Isaac Alfredo Barnechea García (born 19 May 1952) is a Peruvian journalist and politician. In the 2016 Peruvian general election, 2016 elections, he ran for President of Peru under the Popular Action (Peru), Acción Popular party, finishing in fourth place. He was among the potential candidates for the 2021 Peruvian general election, 2021 general election until he withdrew his pre-candidacy in November 2020. The nomination was subsequently won by Yonhy Lescano. Education In 1992, he earned a Master's in Public Administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. The Congress of the Republic of Peru ( es, Congreso de la República) is the unicameral body that assumes legislative power in Peru.
