Alfred De Baillet Latour
Alfred, Count de Baillet Latour (1901 – 28 September 1980) was a Belgian count. End of the House of Baillet Alfred was the last grandson of Ferdinand de Baillet-Latour, Governor of Antwerp and a nephew of Henri II, Count de Baillet-Latour (1876–1942): 3rd president of the International Olympic Committee. His mother was viscountess Antoinette de Spoelberch, and belonged to the owners of Artois holding. He started his professional career at the Artois Artois ( ; ; nl, Artesië; English adjective: ''Artesian'') is a region of northern France. Ferdinand De Baillet-Latour
Ferdinand Charles Louis Antoine, Count of Baillet-Latour (21 January 1850 – 18 September 1925) was a Belgian politician. He was governor of the province of Antwerp from 14 March 1908 until 31 December 1912. Family Baillet-Latour was born in the Belgian branch of the family and was the son of Alfred, Count de Baillet-Latour (1823–1889). He had two sons: Henri de Baillet-Latour and Louis, Count de Baillet-Latour (1878–1953). Political career Ferdinand de Baillet-Latour was a member of the Antwerp provincial council for the canton Ekeren from 1 July 1902 until 14 March 1908. He was a member of the village council of Brasschaat from 1902 until 1908 and from 1913 until 1824. Henri de Baillet-Latour, Count of Baillet-Latour (1 March 1876 – 6 January 1942) was a Belgian aristocrat and the third president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Early life Henri de Baillet-Latour was born in Brussels, Belgium, on 1 March 1876. He was the oldest of three children. His father was Count Ferdinand de Baillet-Latour, former governor of the Province of Antwerp, and his mother was Countess Caroline d'Oultremont de Duras. He studied law at the University of Louvain, Belgium, between 1895 and 1897. His marriage to Countess Elisabeth Clary-Aldringen took place on 14 July 1904. Their son Guy Siegfried Ferdinand was born in May 1905, and their daughter Sophie Thérèse Ghislain Marie was born in February 1908. The House of Spoelberch is an old Belgian noble house, they are titled Viscount de Spoelberch. The family is legally recognised as being part of the nobility of the Belgian kingdom. History The genealogy of this family can be traced back to an act of 19 April 1535. This act mentions Willem Spoelberchs as the husband of Catherina van Hoegaerde, and as being the son of Wouter Spoelberchs. The Artois-Baillet Latour Foundation is a Belgian non-profit organization which was founded on 1 March 1974. History The foundation was born by the initiative of Count Alfred de Baillet Latour, who was the Director of the Artois Breweries in Leuven, Belgium. He was the last male heir of the old House of Baillet, and was by motherside related to the House of Spoelberch, who own the Artois Company.
