Alfred Thompson (Yukon Politician)
Alfred Thompson (June 6, 1869 – April 20, 1940) was a Canadian physician and politician. Born in Nine Mile River, Nova Scotia, the son of James A. Thompson and Jane Thompson, Thompson was educated at a public school by private tutor and graduated from Dalhousie University with a degree of M.D.C.M. in 1898. He went to the Klondike in 1899 where he practiced medicine. In 1902, he was elected to the Yukon Council. Thompson would go on to sit three times in the House of Commons of Canada, always representing the federal constituency of the Yukon. A Conservative, he first sat in the House between 1904 and 1908, taking the seat away from his main rival, former Yukon Commissioner Frederick Tennyson Congdon. The seat had recently been vacated by another former Yukon Commissioner, James Hamilton Ross, because of his appointment to the Senate of Canada. Alfred Burke Thompson
Alfred Burke Thompson (July 18, 1862 – August 2, 1942) was a barrister and political figure in Ontario, Canada. He represented Simcoe Centre in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1898 to 1902 and from 1905 to 1919 and Simcoe East in the House of Commons of Canada from 1925 to 1935 as a Conservative member. He was born in Penetanguishene, Canada West, the son of town mayor Alfred Andrew Thompson and the grandson of William Thompson. He was educated at Upper Canada College and Toronto University. Alfred Thompson (footballer, Died 1969)
Alfred Alexander Thompson (28 April 1891 – 19 April 1969) was an English professional footballer who played in the Football League for Glossop and Brentford as an inside forward. Career An inside forward, Thompson began his career in the Football League as a youth with Liverpool, before joining with Glossop. He moved to Woolwich Arsenal, where he failed to make a first team appearance and instead spent his time with the club in the reserves. Thompson later dropped into non-League football and had a spell with Birmingham & District League club Walsall. After the First World War, Thompson signed for Southern League First Division club Brentford. He scored eight goals in 28 appearances during the 1919–20 season and earned another shot at league football, with Brentford being elected into the new Third Division for the 1920–21 season. Alfred Thompson (pseudonym: Thompson E. Jones, 7 October 1831 – 31 August 1895) was a British musical theatre librettist, set designer, costume designer, theatre manager, journalist and artist, contributing to ''Punch'' and ''Vanity Fair'' (signed "Ἀτη"). Biography Thompson was born in London. He was educated at Rugby and Brighton. He matriculated at Trinity College, Cambridge, in 1850 and graduated B.A. in 1855. He served as a cavalry officer in the 6th Dragoons from 1855 until he sold his commission in 1857; he started as cornet and rose to captain. In 1854 he sold his first drawing to ''Diogenes'' and in 1856–1858 sold numerous drawings to ''Punch''. He studied art in Munich with private lessons from Karl von Piloty and in Paris under Thomas Couture. Alfred Hill Thompson, ARIBA (1839 – 19 May 1874) was an English architect in the Gothic Revival and Arts and Crafts styles, who specialised in small schools and chapels in the Yorkshire area. In partnership with Isaac Thomas Shutt he co-designed the Church of All Saints, Harlow Hill, completed in 1871. Personal life Alfred Hill Thompson, ARIBA, was born in Leeds in 1839. His father John Thompson (b.1816) was a china and glass dealer, and hairdresser whose wife was Elizabeth Thompson (b.1814). In 1851 the family was living at 134 Upper Kirkgate, Leeds, Thompson was aged 13, the eldest of five children. Alfred Wordsworth Thompson (May 26, 1840 – August 28, 1896) was an American landscape and history painter. Biography Alfred Wordsworth Thompson was born in Baltimore on May 26, 1840. After completing his secondary education, he was enrolled at Newton University, to prepare him for a career in his father's law practice.
