Alfred R. Lea
Alfred R. Lea (July 10, 1853 – September 8, 1931) was an American businessman and politician. Born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Lea was a clothing merchant in Waupaca, Wisconsin and also owned several general stores in New London, Wisconsin and Iola, Wisconsin. Lea served on the Waupaca Common Council and as mayor of Waupaca. In 1891, Lea served in the Wisconsin State Assembly and was a Democratic Party (United States), Democrat. Oshkosh, Wisconsin
Oshkosh is a city in Winnebago County, Wisconsin, of which it is the county seat. The city had a population of 66,816 in 2020, making it the ninth-largest city in Wisconsin. It is also adjacent to the Town of Oshkosh. History Oshkosh was named for Menominee Chief Oshkosh, whose name meant "claw" (cf. Ojibwe ''oshkanzh'', "the claw"). Although the fur trade attracted the first European settlers to the area as early as 1818, it never became a major player in the fur trade. The 1820s mining boom in southwest Wisconsin along with the opening of the Erie Canal shifted commercial activity away from the Fox River Valley and Green Bay. New London is a city in Outagamie County, Wisconsin, Outagamie and Waupaca County, Wisconsin, Waupaca counties Wisconsin, United States. Founded in 1851, the population was 7,295 at the 2010 census. Wisconsin State Assembly
The Wisconsin State Assembly is the lower house of the Wisconsin Legislature. Together with the smaller Wisconsin Senate, the two constitute the legislative branch of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. Representatives are elected for two-year terms, elected during the fall elections. If a vacancy occurs in an Assembly seat between elections, it may be filled only by a special election.
