Alfred Gadenne
Alfred Gadenne (31 January 1946 – 11 September 2017) was a Belgian politician for the Centre démocrate humaniste and mayor of Mouscron Mouscron (; Dutch and vls, Moeskroen, ; Picard and Walloon: ''Moucron'') is a city and municipality of Wallonia located in the Belgian province of Hainaut, along the border with the French city of Tourcoing, which is part of the Lille metropol ... in Hainaut until his death in September 2017. Death Gadenne was murdered on 11 September 2017 at the age of 71. He was killed at a municipal graveyard close to his home in Mouscron by Nathan Duponcheel. Local news outlets at first reported that a suspect handed himself in to police and that the motive was unclear. The next day the then 18-year-old man told police he killed Gadenne to avenge the death of his father, who committed suicide in 2015 after losing his job as a local council employee. Mouscron
Mouscron (; Dutch and vls, Moeskroen, ; Picard and Walloon: ''Moucron'') is a city and municipality of Wallonia located in the Belgian province of Hainaut, along the border with the French city of Tourcoing, which is part of the Lille metropolitan area. The municipality consists of the following districts: Dottignies, Herseaux, Luingne, and Mouscron. In accordance with the national law, the municipality offers facilities for the Dutch speaking minority. Kortrijk, in Flanders, is located just to the north of Mouscron. The city substantially grew during the 19th and early 20th century with the development of the textile industry in the north of France. Humanist Democratic Centre (french: Centre Démocrate Humaniste, CDH) was a Christian democratic and centrist French-speaking political party in Belgium. The party originated in the split in 1972 of the unitary Christian Social Party (PSC-CVP) which had been the country's governing party for much of the post-war period. It continued to be called the Christian Social Party (french: Parti Social Chrétien, PSC) until 2002 when it was renamed the Humanist Democratic Centre. It was refounded as Les Engagés in 2022.
