Alfonso Calderon (activist)
Alfonso Calderón Atienzar (born October 10, 2001) is a Spanish-American student activist against gun violence. He is a survivor of the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting and a founding member of the Never Again MSD movement. Early life and activism Calderon was born in a Spanish town outside Madrid called Alcobendas, and he has been living in the United States since 2008. Calderon criticized lawmakers for failing to enact sensible gun laws as well as screenings to keep mentally ill people from being able to buy "military grade weapons", and he criticized the National Rifle Association (NRA) and their spokesperson Dana Loesch Dana Lynn Loesch ( ; ; born September 28, 1978) is an American radio and TV host. Arming Teachers
Arming teachers is equipping teachers in preschool through secondary school with firearms. Such proposals have engendered public debate regarding with whom the responsibility for providing a safe environment lies, and whether it would reduce or escalate the risk of shootings. School shootings, and proposals to arm teachers are the most common in the United States, but proposals have also been made in Israel, Kenya, Pakistan, South Africa, and Thailand. Stoneman Douglas High School Shooting Activists
The Stoneman is a name given by the popular English-language print media of Calcutta, India to an unidentified serial killer who murdered at least 13 sleeping homeless people in Calcutta in 1989. The name is also given to the perpetrator of a similar series of murders in Bombay from 1985 to 1988. It has been speculated that these were the work of the same person, who could have been responsible for as many as 26 murders. The Stoneman was blamed for thirteen murders over six months (the first in June 1983), but it was never established whether the crimes were committed by one person or a group of individuals. The Calcutta Police also failed to resolve whether any of the crimes were committed as a copycat murder. To date, no one has been charged with any of the crimes; all thirteen cases remain unsolved.
