Alf Poier
Alf Poier (born 22 February 1967 in Judenburg, Styria) is an Austrian artist and stand-up comedian. Biography Born in Judenburg in Styria, he started doing cabaret in 1995 in Graz, and has won several prizes for his work, including the in 1998, the , , German Comedy Awards ''(Best Newcomer)'' in 2000, the Austrian in 2002 and the Austrian in 2009. In 2003, Poier participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2003 and secured 6th place with his entry '' Weil der Mensch zählt'' (Because humans matter). The song, and his stage act, were a parody of the contest's excesses. Although his result was considerably better than most of the pre-contest predictions, Poier spent several hours mischievously telling anyone that would listen that his 'low' placing was an outrage, that Europe had demonstrably shown itself to have no musical taste, and that he wasn't sure if the shame would permit him to return to Austria. Global Kryner
Global Kryner were a six-piece Austrian folk group, consisting of clarinet player Christof Spörk, bass trombonist, tenor and yodeller Sebastian Fuchsberger, guitarist Edi Koehldorfer, trumpet player Karl Rossmann, accordion player Anton Sauprügl, and jazz vocalist Sabine Stieger. The group has won numerous awards in Germany and Austria, and represented Austria in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 in Kyiv, Ukraine. 2005 Eurovision Song Contest Global Kryner were the first band to perform in the semi-final of the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest, opening the show, but did not receive enough televotes to progress to the final, coming 21st out of 25 countries. Manuel Ortega (singer)
Manuel Ortega (born Manuel Hanke, Steyregg, 8 April 1980) is an Austrian singer of Spanish origin. Biography The son of a Spanish mother and an Austrian father, Ortega began his career as a singer when he was 10 years old. He sang with the Florianer Sängerknaben in one of the oldest choirs from Austria. His love for pop music led to him joining a band called BAFF when he was a teenager. Starting from an early age, meant Ortega has been able to make over 200 stages performances as of 2003. When he was 17, he took part in a search for talent and was chosen out of 1300 entrants to be the singer of a new group. Whilst successful, the group was not enough for Ortega and in 2001 he began a solo career. The song ''El Amor, La Vida'' was the Austrian summer hit of 2001.
