Alexandru Meszaros (26 May 1933 - 4 August 2016) was a Romanian footballer who played as a striker. Târgu Mureș
Târgu Mureș (, ; hu, Marosvásárhely ) is the seat of Mureș County in the historical region of Transylvania, Romania. It is the List of cities and towns in Romania, 16th largest Romanian city, with 134,290 inhabitants as of the 2011 Romanian census, 2011 census. It lies on the Mureș (river), Mureș River, the second longest river in Romania (after the Danube). Names and etymology The current Romanian language, Romanian name of the city, ''Târgu Mureș'', is the equivalent of the Hungarian language, Hungarian ''Marosvásárhely'', both meaning "market on the Mureș (river), Mureș (Maros) [River]". ''Târg'' means "market" in Romanian and ''vásárhely'' means "marketplace" in Hungarian. Local Hungarians often shorten ''Marosvásárhely'' to ''Vásárhely'' in speech. Balkans Cup
The Balkans Cup was an international football competition for clubs from Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Turkey, and Yugoslavia. It was introduced in 1961 and was very popular in the 1960s (the 1967 final attracted 42,000 spectators), being the second most important international club competition for clubs from the region (after the European Champions' Cup in which the champions could play; the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup originally attracted few teams from the region as many did not organise domestic cups regularly and only Yugoslavia had significant representation in the Fairs Cup). The competition has been dominated by Bulgaria-based teams. The Bulgarian teams have won together a total number of 9 titles. It later declined after Balkan clubs obtained more representation in the two minor UEFA competitions, in contrast to the (much older but also defunct) Balkan Cup for national teams. The 1960–61 Balkans Cup was the first edition of the Balkans Cup, a football competition for representative clubs from the Balkan states. Yugoslavian runner-up Dinamo Zagreb chose to play in the first edition of the European Cup Winners' Cup, and no other Yugoslav team replaced them.
