Alexandros Vergonis
Alexandros Vergonis ( el, Αλέξανδρος Βεργώνης, born 1 December 1985) is a retired Greek professional footballer who played as a central midfielder. He was an emblematic captain of Veria and Veria NFC, two teams located in his hometown Veria. He's now the assistant manager of Greek Super League 2 Club AEL. Career Vergonis scored his first two goals against Platanias in a 5–0 home win in Football League championship. On 12 April 2014, Alexandros scored the only goal in a match between Veria and Asteras Tripoli for the Superleague Greece and kept Veria in the category. Also, his goal was the 400th goal of all time for Veria in Superleague. On 23 May 2014, Alexandros signed a one-year contract extension with Veria. Vergonis scored again for Veria in a 0–2 away win against Ergotelis during the second matchday of the Greek Football Cup. Vergonis signed a one-year contract expansion on 2 June 2015. 2006–07 Gamma Ethniki
The 2006–07 Gamma Ethniki was the 24th season since the official establishment of the third tier of Greek football in 1983. Agios Dimitrios and Pierikos were crowned champions in ''South'' and ''North'' Group respectively, thus winning promotion to Beta Ethniki. ASK Olympiacos won the third promotion ticket after defeating Rodos 2-1 in a single play-off match at Municipal Ground of Peristeri between the two groups' second-placed teams. Paniliakos, OF Ierapetra, PAO Varda, Zakynthos, Androutsos Gravia, Nafpaktiakos Asteras and Doxa Gratini were finally relegated to Delta Ethniki or the Regional Championship. The 2020–21 Football League Greece was the second season as a third-tier professional league of the Greek football league system since its restructuring and the tenth season under the name Football League after previously being known as ''Beta Ethniki''. That was the first season after 2014–15 that the league has more than one groups. The groups are created based on geographical criteria. The 2018–19 Gamma Ethniki is the 36th season since the official establishment of the third tier of Greek football in 1983. It start on 30 September 2018. This year 12 teams will be promoted. After the finish of the eight groups, the first team of each group will be promoted to Football League and then the 8 runner-up teams after draw will play two legs to determine which four teams will be promoted. 107 teams are divided into eight groups according to geographical criteria.
