Alexandra Gottardo
Alexandra Gottardo is an Indonesian model, film and television actress. Career Gottardo was born on 5 January 1985, in Malang, Indonesia to Italian architect Carlo Gottardo and his Indonesian wife Banik Ekawati. Her father died when she was a child and she was brought up by her mother. After finishing her schooling, Gottardo went to Jakarta for better career prospects. It was here that she was cast for TV serials like ''Karena Cinta'' and ''Si Yoyo'' (2006). The latter show brought her recognition. She made her film debut with ''Anak-Anak Borobudur'' (2007) and appeared in ' (2008). In 2010 she played the lead role in -directed drama ', set against the backdrop of the 1999 East Timorese crisis. Her performance as a widowed mother garnered her two nominations at the 2011 Indonesian Movie Awards. The Indo people ( nl, Indische Nederlanders, or Indos) are Eurasian people living in or connected with Indonesia. In its narrowest sense, the term refers to people in the former Dutch East Indies who held European legal status but were of mixed Dutch and indigenous Indonesian descent as well as their descendants today. 1999 East Timorese Crisis
The 1999 East Timorese crisis began with attacks by pro-Indonesia militia groups on civilians, and expanded to general violence throughout the country, centred in the capital Dili. The violence intensified after a majority of eligible East Timorese voters chose independence from Indonesia. Some 1,400 civilians are believed to have died.
