Alexander Stripunsky (Ukrainian: Олександр Стріпунський) (Ukraine, born August 18, 1970) is a US American chess player. He has been a grandmaster (GM) since 1998. * In July 2002 Stripunsky participated in the World Open tournament. He became 15th with 6 points. * In December 2004 he shared first place at the US Championship. He scored 7 points out of 9 rounds, together with Hikaru Nakamura. At December 6 the play-offs were won by Hikaru Nakamura, Stripunsky therefor became runner-up. * July 10, 2005 the ''long distance match'' between New York City and Saint Petersburg took place, which was won by the Russians, 2 - 6. Grandmaster (GM) is a title awarded to chess players by the world chess organization FIDE. Apart from World Champion, Grandmaster is the highest title a chess player can attain. Once achieved, the title is held for life, though exceptionally it has been revoked for cheating. The title of Grandmaster, along with the lesser FIDE titles of International Master (IM) and FIDE Master (FM), is open to all players regardless of gender. The great majority of grandmasters are men, but 40 women have been awarded the GM title as of 2022, out of a total of about 2000 grandmasters. Since about the year 2000, most of the top 10 women have held the GM title. There is also a Woman Grandmaster title with lower requirements awarded only to women. Nikita Kirillovich Vitiugov (russian: Никита Кириллович Витюгов; born 4 February 1987) is a Russian chess player. He was awarded the title Grandmaster by FIDE in 2007. He was a member of the victorious Russian team at the World Team Chess Championship in 2009 and 2013. Vitiugov won the Gibraltar Masters tournament in 2013 and the Grenke Open in 2017. Sturbridge, Massachusetts
Sturbridge is a town in Worcester County, Massachusetts, United States. It is home to Old Sturbridge Village living history museum and other sites of historical interest such as Tantiusques.
