Alexander Fernando
Joseph Manuel Alexander Fernando ( ''Æleksænḍar Pranāndu''; 25 August 194029 April 2020) was a Sri Lankan actor and stunt director in Sinhala cinema. Considered one of the best villains in Sinhala cinema, Fernando acted in over 120 Sinhala films, six Tamil films, and one English film. Personal life Fernando was born on 25 August 1940 in Kochchikade, Kotahena, Colombo. He was educated at St. Benedict's College, Colombo, and St. Anthony's Boys College Colombo 13. He was an excellent athlete in wrestling, boxing and swimming during his school years. At the age of 15, he became a member of the Armstrong Wrestling Club, Kotahena. He contested for the Western Province Schools wrestling championship and finished as the runner-up. In addition, he trained in karate, judo and physical fitness. Kotahena is a suburb part of Colombo, Sri Lanka. Pitiyage Mervyn Piyadasa Jayatunga ( si, මර්වින් ජයතුංග; 9 March 1940 – 1 November 1993), popularly known as Mervyn Jayathunga, was an actor in Sri Lankan cinema and stage drama. ''Thushara'' ( si, තුෂාරා, italic=yes) is a 1973 Sri Lankan Sinhala romantic film directed by Yasapalitha Nanayakkara and produced by Mohamed Omar Kareem Hassan. It stars Vijaya Kumaratunga and Malini Fonseka in lead roles along with Joe Abeywickrama and Sonia Disa. Music composed by P. L. A. Somapala. Mary Felicia Perera (born June 7, 1944, සෝනියා දිසා) inhala, popularly as Sonia Dissanayake or known professionally as Sonia Disa, is a former actress in Sri Lankan cinema. Starting her career in 1962, Disa became one of the most popular film actresses in Sri Lanka in the 1970s and 1980s. Apart from acting, she also produced 17 films and worked as a costume designer. Personal life Disa was born on 7 June 1944 in Kotahena, Colombo as Mary Felicia Perera. She was married to Karu Dissanayake, who was also a film actor and made his film debut with ''Soorayangeth Sooraya'', later acting in popular films including ''Weli Kathara'', ''Thushara'' and ''Janaka Saha Manju''.
