Alexander Bedritsky
Alexander Ivanovich Bedritsky (in Russian: Александр Иванович Бедрицкий) was the former president of the World Meteorological Organization, a position he had held from 2003 to 2011. In 2009 he was appointed as President Dmitry Medvedev's advisor on climate change. In the past, he was the Director of the Russian Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and environmental monitoring – The Roshydromet (1993–2009). He was given the 2014 International Meteorological Organization Prize. Since 25 January 2010 he is the special envoy of the President of Russia for climate affairs. World Meteorological Organization
The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations responsible for promoting international cooperation on atmospheric science, climatology, hydrology and geophysics. International Meteorological Organization Prize
The International Meteorological Organization Prize is awarded annually by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) for outstanding contributions in the field of meteorology and, since 1971, the field of operational hydrology. The Order of Courage (russian: Орден Мужества, ''Orden Muzhestva'') is a state decoration of the Russian Federation first established on March 2, 1994 by Presidential Decree 442 to recognise selfless acts of courage and valour. Its statute was amended three times, first on January 6, 1999 by Presidential Decree 19, again on September 7, 2010 by Presidential Decree 1099, and finally on December 16, 2011 by Presidential Decree 1631. The Medal "For Labour Valour" (russian: Медаль «За трудовую доблесть») was a civilian labour award of the Soviet Union bestowed to especially deserving workers to recognise and honour dedicated and valorous labour or significant contributions in the fields of science, culture or the manufacturing industry. It was established on December 27, 1938 by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. During its existence, its statute was amended three times by further decrees, first on June 19, 1943 to amend its description and ribbon, then on December 16, 1947 to amend its regulations, and finally on July 18, 1980 to confirm all previous amendments. Although it only had a relatively short eighteen years of existence, it was awarded nearly forty million times. Its regulations were detailed and approved by decree number 5999-VIII of May 20, 1974. Its statute was amended by multiple successive decrees of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, first on June 8, 1977, then on August 12, 1983 and lastly on December 28, 1987.
