Alex T. Marshall
Alexander Tanner Marshall (born June 28, 1989) is an American musician and former pianist/guitarist for the United States, American Rock music, rock band The Cab. Career The Cab (2004–2014) In late 2005, The Cab became a full band with guitarist Paul Garcia, guitar/pianist Alex Marshall, and drummer Alex Johnson, playing its first show at The Alley in Las Vegas. The band signed to local label Olympus Records in January 2006 but released no material. The Cab was signed to Fueled By Ramen/Decaydance in 2007 and released their debut album, ''Whisper War,'' in April 2008. In June 2011, The Cab left Fueled By Ramen/Decaydance, and released their second album, ''Symphony Soldier'', independently on August 23, 2011. In 2012 the band signed a major-label record deal with Universal Republic Records. Just days before the release of a new album, Marshall announced he was leaving the group with no specific reason. Symphony Soldier
''Symphony Soldier'' is the second and most recent studio album by American rock band The Cab. It was self released by the band on August 23, 2011. The Cab first rose to prominence at the peak of the mid-2000s emo pop trend with their debut album ''Whisper War'' (2008), which was promoted via national tours with Hey Monday and the Hush Sound. The following year, the band lost two members, including guitarist Ian Crawford and bassist Cash Colligan. In addition, the band soon parted ways with their original label, scene stalwart Fueled by Ramen. The album boasts a wide array of songwriting collaborators, including Bruno Mars, Adam Levine and Jesse Carmichael of Maroon 5, Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz, and production team The Messengers. It was produced by John Feldmann, and recorded at his home studio, Foxy Studios. ''Whisper War'' is the debut studio album by American rock band The Cab. It was released on April 29, 2008 by Fueled By Ramen/Decaydance Records. The album was produced by Patrick Stump, who also provides vocals on "Bounce", "One of Those Nights", "I'm a Wonder" and sings backing vocals on other songs. Lead singer Alexander DeLeon's younger sister, Sophia, is the little girl on the album cover. Background The record features Brendon Urie of Panic! at the Disco and Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy on the first single off the album, "One of Those Nights", which was co-written by Stump. The home videos for "I'll Run" and "One of Those Nights" feature members of Panic! at the Disco, while the latter also features Pete Wentz and Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy. DCD2 Records, formerly known as Decaydance Records, is an independent record label owned by Patrick Stump and Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy and partners, based in New York City. Fueled By Ramen
Fueled by Ramen LLC is an American record label owned by Warner Music Group and distributed by 300 Elektra Entertainment. The label, founded in Gainesville, Florida in 1996, is now based in New York City. History John Janick conceived of the label while attending high school, but it was not until he enrolled at the University of Florida in Gainesville and teamed up with Less Than Jake drummer-lyricist Vinnie Fiorello that Fueled By Ramen became a reality. The name of the label was inspired by only being able to afford a diet of inexpensive instant ramen at the time, due to having invested most of their money into making records. Ramen's first major success came in 1998 with the self-titled EP from Jimmy Eat World, which enabled the label to buy its first office space in Tampa. Beginnings The first issue of ''Alternative Press'' was distributed at concerts in Cleveland, Ohio beginning in June 1985 by ''APs founder, Mike Shea to advocate bands playing underground music. The name for the magazine, ''Alternative Press'', was not a reference to the alternative rock genre, but referred to the fanzine being an alternative to the local press.
