Alex Smith (footballer, Born 1940)
Alexander Smith (born 11 December 1940) is a former professional Scottish footballer who played for both Rangers and Dunfermline Athletic. He played as an inside-forward. Smith was signed to Dunfermline in May 1958 by then manager Andy Dickson from junior side Dunbar United. He made his debut in September that year against Raith Rovers; however, the game was abandoned. During his eight-year spell at East End Park he made 298 appearances and scored 98 goals. He won the 1961 Scottish Cup and played in the Scottish Cup final 1965 and European matches against the likes of Valencia and Athletic Bilbao. In August 1966, Smith signed for Rangers for a then Scottish record transfer fee of £55,000. He made his debut on 13 August in a Scottish League Cup match versus Hibernian. Matthew Cameron Smith (born 5 October 1996 in Scotland) is a Scottish rugby union player who plays for Glasgow High Kelvinside. He previously played for Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh Rugby at the Flanker position. Rugby Union career Amateur career Smith was part of the Stirling County youth set-up. He won man of the match in the National Youth League Cup final when Stirling Country won the tournament in 2013. They had previously won the same tournament in 2011 and 2012. Ibrox Stadium
Ibrox Stadium is a football stadium on the south side of the River Clyde in the Ibrox area of Glasgow, Scotland. The home of Rangers Football Club, Ibrox is the third largest football stadium in Scotland, with an all-seated capacity of . Opened as Ibrox Park in 1899, it suffered a disaster in 1902 when a wooden terrace collapsed. Vast earthen terraces were built in its place, and a main stand, now a listed building, in 1928. A British record crowd of 118,567 gathered in January 1939 for a league match with Celtic. After the Ibrox disaster of 1971, the stadium was largely rebuilt. The 1967 European Cup Winners' Cup Final was a football match contested between Bayern Munich of West Germany and Rangers of Scotland. The match took place at the Städtisches Stadion in Nuremberg, West Germany on 31 May 1967 in front of a crowd of 69,480. It was the final match of the 1966–67 European Cup Winners' Cup competition and the seventh European Cup Winners' Cup final. The competition was one of three football competitions that was run by UEFA at that time. Both teams had to go through four qualifying rounds before reaching the final. The final finished 0–0 over 90 minutes. Rangers had a goal disallowed during regulation time. In extra time, Bayern scored through Franz Roth and the match ended 1–0.
