The following is a list of characters that first appeared in the British soap opera '' Emmerdale'' in 2011, by order of first appearance. All characters were introduced by the soap's executive producer, Steve Frost. Flynn Buchanan Flynn Buchanan, played by Ryan Prescott, made his first on-screen appearance on 31 January 2011. Flynn was introduced as a love interest for Aaron Livesy ( Danny Miller). The character and casting was announced in January 2011. Prescott landed the role of Flynn shortly after graduating from a performing arts degree. He began filming his first scenes in late November 2010. Prescott told ''The Champion'' that he had been recognised from being in '' Emmerdale''. He said "The storyline in ''Emmerdale'' was so big already that it's brought a lot of publicity, I signed my first couple of autographs the other day which was weird."
