Alex Lovell
Alexandra "Alex" Lovell (born 28 March 1973) is an English television presenter and voice-over artist. She has presented the BBC's regional news programme '' BBC Points West'' since 2005. Early life Lovell was born in Gravesend, Kent, grew up in Harrogate, North Yorkshire and attended Rose Bruford College, a drama school in London. Career Live productions Lovell began her career as a stage actress, in roles which included Linda in '' Blood Brothers'' at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre. In 1997, she joined the '' Playdays'' live tour where she puppeteered and voiced Why Bird. Gravesend, Kent
Gravesend is a town in northwest Kent, England, situated 21 miles (35 km) east-southeast of Charing Cross (central London) on the south bank of the River Thames and opposite Tilbury in Essex. Located in the diocese of Rochester, it is the administrative centre of the Borough of Gravesham. Its geographical situation has given Gravesend strategic importance throughout the maritime and communications history of South East England. ''Deal or No Deal'' is a British game show, hosted by Noel Edmonds, which aired from 31 October 2005 to 23 December 2016 on Channel 4. Based on the original Netherlands format of the game show, each episode sees a contestant choosing one of 22 boxes, each containing a cash amount between 1p to £250,000, and then attempting to win as much as possible either by gambling on having a high amount in their chosen box, or making the game's hidden operator, named "the Banker", offer a considerable cash sum for their box regardless of what is inside. David Garmston
David Garmston is an English journalist who currently works as a presenter on '' BBC Points West'' and ''Sunday Politics West.'' He has worked in television in the West Country for nearly three decades. Biography Garmston was born in Bristol and attended Cotham Grammar School. The 2007 British premium-rate phone-in scandal, sometimes referred to in the press as simply the phone-in scandal relates to a series of controversies regarding the use of premium-rate telephone numbers (or PRS) by several British television and radio broadcasters. The first revelations began in February 2007, regarding the Channel 4 television programme ''Richard & Judy''. However, over the following weeks, more allegations emerged regarding misconduct by major British broadcasters including the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5. The programmes affected included phone-in competitions and public votes conducted over a period of several years, dating back to 2001.
