Alex Johnson (basketball)
Alex "Superman" Johnson (born January 18, 1988) is a Canadian professional basketball player who is currently a member of the London Lightning of the National Basketball League of Canada He played college basketball at Cal State Bakersfield and then NC State. Johnson attended high school at Vaughan Road Academy in Toronto, Ontario. As a professional, he was named an NBL Canada All-Star with the Mississauga Power. Johnson was drafted with the first overall pick in the 2013 NBL Canada draft by the Ottawa SkyHawks. High school career Johnson attended Vaughan Road Academy in Toronto, Ontario, where he was considered one of the top perimeter players of his class in Canada. The London Lightning is a Canadian professional basketball team based in London, Ontario, Canada, with home games at the Budweiser Gardens. The NBA G League, or simply the G League, is the National Basketball Association's (NBA) official List of developmental and minor sports leagues, minor league basketball organization. The NBL Canada draft is an annual event in which each team from the National Basketball League of Canada (NBL) can draft players who are eligible and wish to join the league. Most of these players previously played college basketball in U Sports or the NCAA. Before becoming eligible, the players must participate in a pre-draft combine, and the list of players that will attend the draft is officially decided. Teams are allowed to trade picks during the draft as well. In 2012, the Summerside Storm received a first and third-round pick from the Halifax Rainmen in exchange for Troy Gottselig. The 2013 NBL Canada Draft was held on August 19, 2013, at Hilton Suites Conference Centre & Spa in Markham, Ontario. A total of 29 players were selected, in three rounds. Alex Johnson was selected with the first overall pick by the Ottawa SkyHawks, becoming the first Canadian to be the top pick in the NBL Canada Draft.
