Alex Hall (actress)
Alex Hall (born Patricia Anne Thompson now Fisher, 17 July 1949 in Nuneaton, Warwickshire) is a British actress and radio presenter. Early life Her father was a semi-professional footballer for Nuneaton Borough FC. She lived in Peterlee from the age of 3 until 10, then in Billingham both on Stockton Street and York Crescent, when her father worked for ICI. She attended St John the Evangelist Primary and St Joseph's Convent grammar school in Hartlepool. She worked in the advertising sales department of the ''Northern Echo'' and the '' Evening Gazette''. Television career She appeared in ITV's ''Emmerdale'' as Jean Strickland, the headteacher of Hotten Comprehensive, sporadically between 1999 and 2001. Her character was killed-off in a hit and run involving a number of her students. Byker is a district in the east of the city and metropolitan borough of Newcastle upon Tyne. BBC Radio York is the BBC's local radio station serving the county of North Yorkshire. It broadcasts on FM, DAB, digital TV and via BBC Sounds from studios in the Bootham area of York. According to RAJAR, the station has a weekly audience of 59,000 listeners and a 3.7% share as of September 2022. Early history In May 1982, just over a year before the station was due to launch, a temporary service was provided to cover Pope John Paul II's visit to York. ''Network First'' is a wide-ranging documentary strand broadcast on ITV in the U.K. from January 1994 to December 1997, and was a part replacement for First Tuesday. Unlike other documentary series on ITV such as ''World in Action'', ''Network First'', was not centred on current affairs or politics, but broadcast a range of one-off programmes covering various subjects such as biography, history, and science. Programmes were usually transmitted in the 22:40 slot after '' News at Ten'', each usually running for an hour. The strand was not "owned" by any one ITV franchise, and individual programmes were contributed by the various ITV companies. Greatest Hits Radio West Yorkshire (previously Magic 828 and Radio Aire 2) is a local radio station serving West Yorkshire on 96.3 FM, DAB, Online and App. History Magic 828 Magic 828 was launched by Roger Kirk at 8:28 am on 17 July 1990. The station was formed due to Radio Aire splitting its AM and FM frequencies, with Radio Aire rebranding as Aire FM. The station broadcast on 828 kHz AM and the first song played was "Magical Mystery Tour" by The Beatles. The 'Magic 828' name was created by Bob Preedy who was a presenter on Radio Aire at the time. Thornaby-on-Tees, commonly referred to as Thornaby, is a town and civil parish on the River Tees's southern bank. It is in the Borough of Stockton-on-Tees, North Yorkshire, England. The parish had a population of 24,741 at the 2011 census, in the Teesside built-up area. The town had a royal charter enacted to form a municipal borough in 1892, during the Victorian era, before merging into the County Borough of Teesside in 1968. The fifth series of the British television drama series '' Waterloo Road'' began broadcasting on 28 October 2009 and ended on 15 July 2010 on BBC One. Little Chef was a chain of restaurants in the United Kingdom, founded in 1958 by entrepreneur Sam Alper, who was inspired by American diners. The chain was famous for the "Olympic Breakfast" – its version of a full English – as well as its "Early Starter" and "Jubilee Pancakes". The restaurants were mostly located on the roadside near A roads, often paired with a Travelodge motel, a Burger King and a petrol station.
