Alex Georgiou
Alexis Georgiou (born 1 February 1990) is an Australian rules footballer who played for the Melbourne Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Career Georgiou was recruited by the club in the 2014 Rookie Draft, with pick #35 from the Norwood football club in the SANFL. Alex played in the 2012 and 2013 grand finals victories for Norwood defeating West Adelaide and North Adelaide respectively. He was upgraded to the senior list prior to the season and made his debut in Round 1, 2014, against . Georgiou was delisted at the conclusion of the 2014 AFL season. Norwood Football Club
Norwood Football Club, nicknamed the Redlegs, is an Australian rules football club competing in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) in the state of South Australia. Its home ground is Coopers Stadium (Norwood Oval), which is often referred to as "The Parade". It is one of the two traditional powerhouse clubs of the SANFL, the other being Port Adelaide, who together have won half of all SANFL premierships (see Port Adelaide–Norwood SANFL rivalry). Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. 2014 AFL Season
The 2014 AFL season was the 118th season of the Australian Football League (AFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Australia, which was known as the Victorian Football League until 1989. The season featured eighteen clubs, ran from 14 March until 27 September, and comprised a 22-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top eight clubs.
