Alex Burns (footballer)
Alexander Burns (born 4 August 1973) is a Scottish former association football, footballer who played as a Forward (association football), forward for Motherwell F.C., Motherwell, Heracles Almelo, Heracles, Southend United F.C., Southend United, Livingston F.C., Livingston, Partick Thistle F.C., Partick Thistle, among other teams. He later became a police officer. Career Burns began his career with Scottish Junior Football Association, junior club Shotts Bon Accord, before joining Motherwell F.C., Motherwell in 1991. Upon departing Fir Park after six years with the Lanarkshire side, in which they finished third in the Scottish Premier Division in 1993–94 in Scottish football, 1993–94 and runners-up in 1994–95 in Scottish football, 1994–95, he moved around several clubs, rarely spending more than one season at each. Alexander Burns is an American journalist. He is a national political correspondent for ''The New York Times'' and a political analyst at CNN. Education Burns earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard College in 2008. He began his career editing the ''Harvard Political Review'' and also wrote for a history-themed blog sponsored by American Heritage (magazine), ''American Heritage''. Career Burns joined the staff of ''Politico'' in 2008. He moved to ''The New York Times'' in 2015 to cover politics for the Metro desk, before being appointed political correspondent in time for the 2016 United States presidential election, 2016 presidential election.
