Alev Tekinay
Alev Tekinay (born 1951) is a Turkish writer. She was born in Izmir and attended the German High School in Istanbul. She studied German at university in Munich, getting her PhD in 1979. She then taught German as a foreign language and Turkish in various Bavarian universities. From 1983, she was attached to Augsburg University. She has written novels and short stories, and was awarded the Chamisso Prize by the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts Bavarian is the adjective form of the German state of Bavaria, and refers to people of ancestry from Bavaria. Augsburg University
Augsburg University is a private university in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. It was founded in 1869 as a Norwegian-American Lutheran seminary known as Augsburg Seminarium. Today, the university enrolls approximately 3,000 undergraduate students and 800 graduate students. The university is known for its emphasis on service learning; volunteering in the community is both an instructional strategy and a required part of a student's coursework. History Augsburg was founded as a seminary by Norwegian Lutherans. It was named after the Augsburg Confession of 1530, the primary confession of faith presented by Lutherans in Augsburg, Germany, and contained in the ''Book of Concord'' of 1580. Augsburg Seminarium opened in September 1869, in Marshall, Wisconsin. Chamisso Prize
The Adelbert von Chamisso Prize (German ''Adelbert-von-Chamisso-Preis'') was a German literary award established in 1985, given to a work whose author's mother tongue is not German, as was the case for Adelbert von Chamisso. It was offered by the Robert Bosch Stiftung. In addition to the main prize with a prize money of 15,000 €, one or more promotional prizes ("Förderpreise") with a prize money of 7,000 € and sometimes an honorary award ("Ehrengabe") were given. The prize was created by Harald Weinrich. In 2016, the Robert Bosch Stiftung announced that the prize would be discontinued after the final 2017 award, saying that it had now fulfilled its original objective.
