Alessio Morosin
Alessio Morosin (born 20 June 1955 in Noale) is an Italian lawyer and politician. He joined Liga Veneta–Lega Nord in the early 1990s and was elected to the Regional Council of Veneto at the 1995 regional election. He made his name in Venetist circles for being the author of resolution 42/1998 (title: "Yesterday's and today's peoples and the right to self-determination"), concerning the "self-determination" of the Venetian people. The resolution read: "The Venetian people €¦invokes its right to a democratic and direct referendum for the free expression of its right to self-determination". The resolution was approved by a majority vote in the Council on 22 April 1998. His strong Venetism eventually led Morosin to leave Liga Veneta–Lega Nord in October 1998 to join Liga Veneta Repubblica (LVR), along with Fabrizio Comencini and other four regional councillors. Venetist Politicians
Venetian nationalism (also Venetism, from the Venetian/Italian name, ''venetismo'') is a nationalist, but primarily regionalist, political movement active mostly in Veneto, Italy, as well as in other parts of the former Republic of Venice. Generally speaking, Venetists promote the distinct Venetian identity and the rediscovery of the Republic of Venice's heritage, traditions, culture, and language and/or demand more autonomy or even independence for Veneto from Italy. According to journalist Paolo Possamai, Venetism is "the strain of Veneto and Venetians toward the recognition of their identity and autonomy". Venetism is a broad movement, which definitely includes Venetist parties, notably Liga Veneta, but also encompasses people from several political parties. In 1982 Goffredo Parise, a writer and journalist, wrote: "Veneto is my fatherland. ..Even if a Republic of Italy exists, this abstract idea is not my Fatherland .. We Venetians have travelled throughout the world, bu ...

2015 Venetian Regional Election
The Venetian regional election of 2015 took place in Veneto on 31 May 2015, as part of a big round of regional elections in Italy. Venetian voters elected their President and their Regional Council, whose members had been reduced to 51, including the President. Luca Zaia, incumbent President (elected in 2010 with 60.2% of the vote) and leading member of the Northern League (LN), was re-elected by a reduced majority, due to a split occurred within his party in the run-up of the election, but, despite this, his victory over Alessandra Moretti of the Democratic Party (PD), who fared quite badly, was still a landslide: 50.1% to 22.7%. The election was a personal triumph for Zaia, who was the most voted President among the seven elected on 31 May. Other two candidates, Jacopo Berti of the Five Star Movement (M5S) and Flavio Tosi of the Tosi List for Veneto (LTV), the splinter group from the LN, got more than 10% of the vote and finished both at 11.9%. A fifth, Alessio Morosin of Ven ...

President Of Veneto
The president of Veneto is the supreme authority of Veneto, a region of Italy. Election Originally appointed by the Regional Council of Veneto, since 1995 ''de facto'' and 2000 ''de jure'', the president is elected by popular vote every five years under universal suffrage: in regional elections the candidate who receives a plurality of votes is elected. The office is connected to the Regional Council, which is elected contextually: one fifth of the assembly seats are generally reserved to his supporters, which are wholesale elected concurrently with the president. The Council and the president are linked by an alleged relationship of confidence: if the president resigns or he is dismissed by the Council, a snap election is called for both the legislative and the executive offices, because in no case the two bodies can be chosen separately. Powers The president of Veneto promulgates regional laws and regulations. He can receive special administrative functions by the national gov ...

Fabio Padovan
Fabio Padovan (born 11 September 1955, in Conegliano) is an Italian entrepreneur and politician. In the early 1990s Padovan joined Liga Veneta–Lega Nord and was elected to the Chamber of Deputies in the 1992 general election. In early 1994, when Lega Nord entered in alliance with Silvio Berlusconi's Forza Italia, he left in protest the party. Some months later, Padovan founded, along with other Venetist entrepreneurs, the European Federalist Free Entrepreneurs (LIFE), an organization defending the little and medium-sized industries in Veneto. In 2000 Padovan launched a new Venetist and independentist party called Fronte Marco Polo. In the 2000 regional election the party gained 1.2% in Veneto and no seats. Since then, Padovan was briefly a member of Liga Fronte Veneto and, then, became very close to the Venetian National Party and, finally, Veneto State Veneto State (''Veneto Stato'', VS) was a Venetist political party active in Veneto and eastern Lombardy. Venetian Independence
Venetian Independence ( it, Indipendenza Veneta, vec, Independensa Vèneta, IV) is a Venetist, liberal and, to some extent, libertarian political party active in Veneto. The party seeks to achieve full political independence for the former territories of the Venetian Republic from Italy through a referendum. IV, which functions also as an advocacy group, counts a handful of municipal councillors and has not been represented yet in the Regional Council of Veneto. The party was formed in May 2012 as a split from Veneto State (VS) and several members of IV are former affiliates of the Venetian National Party (PNV). The party's most recognisable member is Alessio Morosin (a former regional councillor of the LV–LN), but its formal leaders have been Michele Favero, Massimo Vidori, Juri De Luca and Michele Favero. History Background and foundation In September 2010 a joint Venetist-separatist party named Veneto State (VS) was formed mainly by the merger of the Venetian National ...

Veneto State
Veneto State (''Veneto Stato'', VS) was a Venetist political party active in Veneto and eastern Lombardy. The party's goal to achieve full political independence for the former territories of the Venetian Republic from Italy through a referendum. VS had a handful of municipal councillors and was once represented in the Regional Council of Veneto. After the exit of the libertarian faction led by Lodovico Pizzati, Paolo Bernardini and Gianluca Busato in December 2011 and the formation of Venetian Independence in May 2012, VS was seen as the communitarian wing of the Venetian independence movement. The party was also influenced by Christian democracy and social democracy. Both its latest secretary, Antonio Guadagnini, and its former president, Giustino Cherubin, were former Christian Democrats. VS had close ties with Independentist Youth, the Venetians Movement, and, strangely enough, the Libertarian Movement. At the European level, VS cooperated with the European Partnership f ...
