Alena Smith is an American screenwriter, producer, and author best known for creating the Apple TV+ series '' Dickinson''. In addition to creating the show, she also executive produces and has written numerous episodes. Career Smith got her first professional writing gig for the television series '' My America'', before eventually becoming a staff writer for '' The Newsroom''. In 2019, she created, produced, and wrote the Apple TV+ series '' Dickinson'', with a second season premiering in January 2021 and a third in November 2021. It ran for five seasons, concluding with its final episode on November 3, 2019. Apple TV is a digital media player and microconsole developed and marketed by Apple Inc. It is a small network appliance hardware that plays received media data such as video and audio to a television set or external display. Since its second generation model, it is an HDMI-compliant source device and can only be connected to an enhanced-definition or high-definition widescreen television through HDMI to function. Apple TV lacks integrated controls and can only be controlled remotely, either through an Apple Remote, Siri Remote or some third party infrared remotes. ''My America'' is a series of fictional diaries of children that take place during significant moments in American history. Created by Scholastic Corporation, Scholastic, it is a spin-off of the series, ''Dear America'', geared toward younger children (grades 3-5). The series covers: Jamestown, Virginia, Jamestown, the American Revolution, the American Civil War, Westward Expansion, Underground Railroad, and slavery. Each topic has three books and is authored by a different writer. Writers include well respected and popular children's authors, such as Mary Pope Osborne of Magic Tree House fame.
