Aleksandr Vasilyevich Zhirov (; 12 September 1958 – 18 May 1983) was a Soviet alpine skier. He competed at the 1980 Winter Olympics in the slalom and giant slalom and finished ninth in the latter event. Alpine skiing, or downhill skiing, is the pastime of sliding down snow-covered slopes on skis with fixed-heel bindings, unlike other types of skiing ( cross-country, Telemark, or ski jumping), which use skis with free-heel bindings.
