Aleksandr Galibin
Alexander Vladimirovich Galibin (russian: Александр Владимирович Галибин, born 27 September 1955) is a Soviet and Russian actor noted for playing the Master in the miniseries ''The Master and Margarita'' (2005). His acting career spans over four decades and includes such memorable roles as Tsar Nicholas II in Gleb Panfilov's '' The Romanovs: A Crowned Family'' (2000). Biography Alexander Galibin was born in Leningrad, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union. He first started his acting career as a theater actor at the Theater of Youth Creativity directed by Matvey Dubrovin. From 1973 to 1977, he studied acting at the Faculty of LGITMiK. His film debut was in the 1976 film '' I drugie ofitsialnye litsa''. From 1977 to 1979 – Actor the Komissarjevsky Theatre. Matvey Grigor'evich Dubrovin ( rus, Матве́й Григо́рьевич Дубро́вин, p=matveˈj grigoˈrjevich dubroˈvin, a=Ru-Matvey Dubrovin.ogg; born July 12, 1911, in Saratov, Russian Empire – died October 22, 1974, in Leningrad, USSR). ''The Master and Margarita'' (russian: Мастер и Маргарита, Master i Margarita) is a Russian television mini-series produced by Russian television channel Telekanal Rossiya, based on the novel ''The Master and Margarita'', written by Soviet writer Mikhail Bulgakov between 1928 and 1940. Vladimir Bortko directed this adaptation and was also its screenwriter. The series tagline is "Manuscripts do not burn!". Background This was Bortko's second attempt to make a screen adaptation of Bulgakov's masterpiece. ''Tins'' (Tins, russian: Консервы, Konservy) is a 2007 film about a journalist who possesses information on uranium sales and is set up by his enemies and sent to prison. Initially the film was planned as a political thriller, but along the way it gained features of action with elements of mysticism and surrealism. The film is full of vivid pictures of spy and terrorist games in Moscow, modern Gulag in the Far North, gold mines, escape with elite spetsnaz in the pursuit, underground community of permanently high punks, and other quite unusual settings. The title, which literally translates as "Canned Food", has multiple meanings. One was introduced by Varlam Shalamov in his tales about Gulag, and it was called "calf" – a younger convict accepted to escape team for food, as a walking piece of meat.
