Aleksandr Alekseyev (boxer)
Aleksandr Vyacheslavovich Alekseyev (russian: Александр Вячеславович Алексеев, born 30 April 1981 in Tashkent, Uzbek SSR) is a professional cruiserweight boxer from Russia. Amateur Southpaw Alekseyev beat Jaroslavas Jakšto in the final of the World Military championships 2003. He won a silver medal at the 2003 World Amateur Boxing Championships at 201 lbs losing to his nemesis Odlanier Solís. Alekseyev won the gold medal in the same division at the 2004 European Amateur Boxing Championships in Pula, Croatia. The participated in the 2004 Summer Olympics. There he was narrowly defeated in the first round of the heavyweight (91 kg) division by Cuba's eventual winner Odlanier Solís. Boxing At The 2004 Summer Olympics – Heavyweight
The heavyweight boxing competition at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens was held from 18 to 28 August at Peristeri Olympic Boxing Hall. This is limited to those boxers weighing between 81 and 91 kilograms. Competition format Like all Olympic boxing events, the competition was a straight single-elimination tournament. This event consisted of 28 boxers who have qualified for the competition through various tournaments held in 2003 and 2004. The competition began with a preliminary round on 18 August, where the number of competitors was reduced to eight, and concluded with the final on 28 August. All bouts consisted of four rounds of two minutes each, with one-minute breaks between rounds. Yoan Pablo Hernández Suárez (born October 28, 1984) is a Cuban-German professional boxer. He is a former unified cruiserweight world champion, having held the IBF and ''Ring'' magazine titles between 2011 and 2015, as well as the WBA interim cruiserweight title in 2011. Victor Emilio Ramírez (born March 30, 1984) is an Argentine former professional boxer. He held the WBO cruiserweight title in 2009 and the IBF cruiserweight from 2015 to 2016.
