Aled Richards
Aled Richards (born in 1969) is a Welsh drummer and was a member of the Welsh rock band Catatonia. Early life Richards started to play drums when he was young, born and living in Wales. Richards joined the band Catatonia in 1996, who were on the verge of signing a deal with the major record label, Warner Brothers. Catatonia Richards joined Catatonia when they were signing a deal with Warner Brothers Richards played with the band in all of their shows ranging from Glastonbury Festival to playing in Wembley in support of NetAid and TV performances such as '' Later... with Jools Holland'', and ''Top Of The Pops''. Llanelli
Llanelli ("St Elli's Parish"; ) is a market town and the largest community in Carmarthenshire and the preserved county of Dyfed, Wales. It is located on the Loughor estuary north-west of Swansea and south-east of the county town, Carmarthen. The town had a population of 25,168 in 2011, estimated in 2019 at 26,225. The local authority was Llanelli Borough Council when the county of Dyfed existed, but it has been under Carmarthenshire County Council since 1996. ''Paper Scissors Stone'' was the fourth and final album by Welsh band Catatonia. It was released on 6 August 2001 in the UK, and reached #6 on the UK album chart. Background The album only had one single taken from it, " Stone by Stone" – the group's final single release. Fittingly, the ending of the video for the song features the band members all abandoning their instruments and walking away. The band had announced on their website that the next single was to be the rocky "Is Everybody Here on Drugs", although the announcement was quickly removed once it was clear that Catatonia were about to put an end to the band. ''Equally Cursed and Blessed'' is the third studio album by Welsh band Catatonia, released in April 1999 via Blanco y Negro Records. It reached number one in the UK Album Chart, and three singles were released from it: " Dead from the Waist Down", " Londinium" and " Karaoke Queen". Recording While touring in the United States following the success of their second studio album, '' International Velvet'', Catatonia recorded sample demos onto a DPS12 hard disk recorder in their tour bus upon the recommendation of their producer, TommyD. ''International Velvet'' is the second album by Welsh band Catatonia. It was the band's breakthrough, reaching number 1 in the UK Albums Chart, spawning two Top 10 singles, " Mulder and Scully" and "Road Rage", three other Top 40 singles, "I Am the Mob", " Game On" and " Strange Glue", and catapulted the band and lead singer Cerys Matthews into the spotlight. NetAid
NetAid was an anti-poverty initiative. It started as a joint venture between the United Nations Development Programme and Cisco Systems. It became an independent nonprofit organization in 2001. In 2007, NetAid became a part of Mercy Corps. Launch concerts NetAid began with a concert event on 9 October 1999 with simultaneous activities meant to harness the Internet to raise money and awareness for the Jubilee 2000 campaign. Concerts took place at Wembley Stadium in London, Giants Stadium in New Jersey and the Palais des Nations in Geneva. Britpop
Britpop was a mid-1990s British-based music culture movement that emphasised Britishness. It produced brighter, catchier alternative rock, partly in reaction to the popularity of the darker lyrical themes of the US-led grunge music and to the UK's own shoegaze music scene. The movement brought British alternative rock into the mainstream and formed the backbone of a larger British popular cultural movement, Cool Britannia, which evoked the Swinging Sixties and the British guitar pop of that decade.
