Alec Duffy
Alec Duffy is an Obie Award winning writer and director, and the Artistic Director of Hoi Polloi and JACK, a performing arts space in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. Career Duffy has written and directed several shows with his theater company, Hoi Polloi, including ''Shadows'', ''All Hands'' and ''The less we talk''. As a member of the Essentials, Duffy co-wrote the musical comedy '' Perfect Harmony'', wrote an original song for the show and provided musical arrangements. In 2011, he founded JACK, a performing arts space in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. He performs there regularly with his avant-garde theatre improv band, The Georges. In 2011, Duffy won an Obie Award for his work on ''Three Pianos''. In 2007, Alec had recorded a song entitled "Every Day is Christmas", which he entered into a competition held by Sufjan Stevens. The Obie Awards or Off-Broadway Theater Awards are annual awards originally given by ''The Village Voice'' newspaper to theatre artists and groups in New York City. In September 2014, the awards were jointly presented and administered with the American Theatre Wing. As the Tony Awards cover Broadway productions, the Obie Awards cover off-Broadway and off-off-Broadway productions. Clinton Hill is a neighborhood in north-central Brooklyn, a borough of New York City. It is bordered by the Brooklyn Navy Yard and the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway to the north, Williamsburg to the northeast, Classon Avenue and Bedford–Stuyvesant to the east, Atlantic Avenue and Prospect Heights to the south and southwest and Vanderbilt Avenue and Fort Greene to the west. Perfect Harmony (musical)
''Perfect Harmony'' is an ''a cappella'' musical comedy by Andrew Grosso and The Essentials for Perfect Harmony. A cappella vocal arrangements for ''Perfect Harmony'' are by Adam Wachter, with additional arrangements by Ray Bailey and Jeremy Gussin. Bailey and Wachter provided arrangements for the Off-Broadway production. The work premiered at the 2006 New York International Fringe Festival where it had an extended run in the Fringe Encore Series before it opened Off-Off Broadway in 2008.
