Aldridge Foundation
The Aldridge Foundation is a British educational charity which focusses on creating social change and community regeneration opportunities through enterprise and entrepreneurship, to help young people to reach their potential and improve their communities. It is based in London. The Aldridge Foundation was registered as a charity in 2006 by Sir Rod Aldridge, after he retired from the business he founded, Capita. Over 10 years it developed a family of sponsored academy schools in England. In 2016 it established Aldridge Education, a multi-academy trust and the body now responsible for Aldridge schools, which educate students from primary to secondary and sixth form level. All of the schools are non-selective. The Trust is also a co-sponsor of a University technical college, University Technical College, which has university and employer lead sponsors. Sir Rodney Malcolm Aldridge (born 7 November 1947) is the founder and former executive chairman of Capita, a British company specialising in business process outsourcing. He is a former Chair of Vinspired, a charity launched in May 2006 aiming to help young people Volunteering, volunteer in their local communities. University Technical College
A university technical college (UTC) is a type of specialist secondary school in England that is led by a sponsor university and has close ties to local business and industry. These university and industry partners support the curriculum development of the UTC, can provide professional development opportunities for teachers, and guide suitably qualified students on to industrial apprenticeships or tertiary education. The sponsor university appoints the majority of the UTC's governors and key members of staff. Pupils transfer to a UTC at the age of 14, part-way through their secondary education. Darwen Aldridge Community Academy
Darwen Aldridge Community Academy (DACA) is a secondary school and sixth form with academy status in the Blackburn with Darwen borough of Lancashire, England. It specialises in entrepreneurship and is part of the Aldridge Education Multi Academy Trust. History Darwen Aldridge Communuity Academy replaced Darwen Moorland High School in September 2008, opening on the site of the former school at Holden Fold (). The academy is sponsored by the Aldridge Foundation and was officially opened by the foundation chairman, Sir Rod Aldridge, on 16 October 2008. Brighton Aldridge Community Academy (BACA) is a coeducational academy school in Brighton. It opened on 1 September 2010. The school replaced Falmer High School and is part of the Aldridge Education multi-academy trust. Dylan Davies became Brighton Aldridge Community Academy's second Principal succeeding Phil Hogg on her retirement, taking up the role in January 2014. Darwen Aldridge Enterprise Studio (DAES) is a mixed studio school located in Lancashire, UK. It opened in September 2013. It is part of the Aldridge Education multi-academy trust. Darwen is a market town and civil parish in the Blackburn with Darwen borough in Lancashire, England. The residents of the town are known as "Darreners".
