Alcochete Municipality
Alcochete () is a municipality in Portugal. The population in 2011 was 17,569, in an area of 128.36 km². The municipality is composed of three parishes and is located in Setúbal District. Alcochete is known for its bullfighting tradition and its proximity to the second-longest bridge in Europe, the Vasco da Gama Bridge. The actual site of present-day Alcochete was already occupied during Roman times with a clay production facility. Its name is thought to derive from the Arabic word for oven for reasons not yet understood. It became a vacation site preferred by the Portuguese royalty and the future king D. Francisco Bolota
Francisco Bolota (born April 20, 1946) is a Portuguese former footballer who played as a forward. Career Bolota joined the youth ranks of GD Alcochetense in 1964. In 1967, he played in the Primeira Divisão with F.C. Barreirense for two seasons. Later he joined C.D. Montijo and played in the Segunda Divisão Portuguesa. In 1971, he returned to the top flight with União de Tomar for five seasons, and returned to former team C.D. Montijo for the 1976-77 season. In 1977, he played abroad in the National Soccer League with Toronto Italia. In his debut season in Toronto he recorded 27 goals in 15 matches. Frederico Barrigana (28 April 1922 – 30 September 2007) was a Portuguese footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He spent the vast majority of his career with Porto, where he earned the nickname "Mãos de Ferro" (Iron Hands) and appeared in 296 competitive matches. Francisco Rodrigues Da Cruz
Francisco Rodrigues da Cruz, S.J. (29 July 1859 – 1 October 1948), more commonly known as Father Cruz ( pt, Padre Cruz) was a Portuguese priest of the Catholic Church.
