Club Deportivo Básico Alcobendas Rugby is a Spanish rugby team based in Alcobendas, Spain. History The club was established in 2003 by local fans from Alcobendas, and played its first ever season in División de Honor that year, occupying the place formally occupied by Moraleja. Other past teams from Alcobendas includes Teca Rugby Club (1972–1990), Club España Urogallos (1979–1990), Alcobendas Rugby Club (1990–1999), Club de Rugby La Moraleja–El Soto (1990–1999), Moraleja Alcobendas Rugby Unión (1999–2003), Club Alcobendas Rugby (2003– ). 2015–16 División De Honor De Rugby
The 2015–16 División de Honor was the 49th season of the top flight of the Spanish domestic rugby union competition since its inception in 1953. Regular season began on 19 September 2015 and finished on 1 May 2016. The playoffs began in May, with the Final taking place on 28 May. El Salvador won its eighth División de Honor title after defeating local arch-rivals Valladolid in the Final 24–23, held at Estadio Pepe Rojo on 28 May. Pozuelo was the team relegated to División de Honor B de Rugby. Competition format The regular season runs through 22 match days. Upon completion the regular season, it is the turn of championship playoffs. Alcobendas
Alcobendas () is a municipality of Spain located in the Community of Madrid. It forms an urban continuum with the neighbouring municipality of San Sebastián de los Reyes. The affluent residential area of La Moraleja lies within the municipal limits, segregated from the main urban nucleus by the A-1 highway. The municipality features the Valdelatas nature reserve and a light industrial estate. Martin Kafka (rugby Player)
Martin Kafka (born 25 July 1978 in Říčany) is a former Czech rugby player and the current coach of the Czech Republic. His great-uncle was the famous writer Franz Kafka and his grandfather was a German international footballer. Early years Kafka started playing rugby at the age of seven at his hometown club. In 1997 he went to study at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport at the Charles University in Prague, with the intention of becoming a Physical Education teacher. Rugby career He went to Spain in 1999, playing for Valencia, who were then in the Spanish Second Division ( División de Honor B). Oriol Ripol (born 6 September 1975, in Catalonia) is a rugby union footballer from Spain. He previously played for Rotherham, Northampton, Worcester Warriors (whom he left in 2011.) and Sale Sharks, and has represented the Barbarians. The 2021–22 División de Honor was the 55th season of the División de Honor, the top flight of Spanish domestic rugby union. Competition format The season took place between October and May. The league format was altered for the 2021-22 season. The twelve teams were split into two groups of 6, based on their placings in last season's league. Teams played the other teams in their group twice, and then played a further six games against teams from the other group, making a total of 16 games. Valladolid won its fifth consecutive title, its eleventh overall, defeating Alcobendas in the final. Competition format The División de Honor de Rugby season takes place between October and May. The COVID-19 pandemic delayed and affected the competition. Bathco withdrew from the competition due to financial issues, and were replaced with Les Abelles, who beat Hernani, the team which had finished in 12th place in the 2019-20 season, in a playoff. 2014–15 División De Honor B De Rugby
The 2014–15 División de Honor B, the XVII edition, began on September 13, 2014 with the first matchday of regular season and finished on May 23, 2015 with the Promotion playoffs final. For 2014–15 season, the championship expands to 3 groups of 10/12 teams each. Alcobendas Rugby won the promotion playoff to Sant Cugat 18–13 and returned to División de Honor three years after of relegation. Competition format The season comprises Main stage or regular season, 2nd stage and Final. The regular season runs through 22 matchdays (groups A and C) and 18 matchdays (Group B).
