Albert Young (American Football)
Albert Young (born February 25, 1985) is a former American football running back who played for two seasons in the National Football League (NFL). After playing college football for the Iowa Hawkeyes, he was signed by the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent in 2008. He played for the Vikings in 2009 and 2010, before agreeing to become an assistant coach for the University of Colorado Buffaloes football team in 2012. Early years A resident of Moorestown, New Jersey, Young played high school football at Moorestown High School. He remains the all-time leading rusher in South Jersey (5,411 yards) and after originally committing to University of Wisconsin-Madison to play football for Barry Alvarez's Badgers, he decomitted for the Iowa Hawkeyes in 2003. A running back (RB) is a member of the offensive backfield in gridiron football. The primary roles of a running back are to receive American football plays#Offensive terminology, handoffs from the quarterback to Rush (American football)#Offense, rush the ball, to line up as a receiver to catch the ball, and Blocking (American football), block. Iowa Hawkeyes
The Iowa Hawkeyes are the athletic teams that represent the University of Iowa, located in Iowa City, Iowa. The Hawkeyes have varsity teams in 22 sports, 8 for men and 14 for women; a 15th women's sport will be added in 2023. The teams participate in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and are members of the Big Ten Conference. Currently, the school's athletic director is Gary Barta. Toby Gerhart
Tobin Bo Gunnar Gerhart (born March 28, 1987) is a former American football running back. He was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He played college football for Stanford University, and was a unanimous All-American. In 2009 Gerhart won the Doak Walker Award and was the runner-up for the 2009 Heisman Trophy. He received 1,276 points in the Heisman voting, coming in second to Mark Ingram II, who received 1,304 points; the 28-point margin was the closest vote in Heisman history. Gerhart had a breakout senior season in 2009, leading all running backs in the nation in rushing yards, touchdowns, and points scored, and setting several Pac-10 and school records. He held the Stanford record for most rushing yards in a season (1,871) until Christian McCaffrey broke it in 2015, and still holds Cardinal records for touchdowns in a season (28) and most touchdowns in a career (44).
