Albert Proud
Albert Proud (born 6 September 1988) is a former Australian rules football player who played for Mt Gravatt Vultures in NEAFL. Originally from Braybrook in Melbourne's Western suburbs he previously played for the Brisbane Lions in the Australian Football League (AFL). Proud is an Indigenous Australian and made a name for himself at the Lions through his fierce attack on the ball, and hard work when not in possession. In 2016 Proud pleaded guilty to charges of assaulting his girlfriend and was sentenced to five and a half years in prison. Early life Proud has heritage that traces back to the Torres Strait Islands, but grew up in Melbourne, Victoria. He moved to Brisbane when he was fifteen years old, and later joined the Mount Gravatt Football Club in the QAFL. He was selected to play for Queensland in the AFL Under 18 Championships in 2005 and 2006 and captained the side to a premiership in the latter. QAFL
The Queensland Australian Football League (QAFL) is an Australian rules football competition organised by the AFL Queensland, contested by clubs from South East Queensland. Previously known as the Queensland Football League (QFL), Queensland Australian National Football League (QANFL), Queensland Australian Football League (QAFL) and AFL Queensland State League (AFLQSL), the QAFL is the premier semi-professional competition in Queensland. Torres Strait Islanders () are the Indigenous Melanesian people of the Torres Strait Islands, which are part of the state of Queensland, Australia. Ethnically distinct from the Aboriginal people of the rest of Australia, they are often grouped with them as Indigenous Australians. Today there are many more Torres Strait Islander people living in mainland Australia (nearly 28,000) than on the Islands (about 4,500). Sunnybank, Queensland
Sunnybank is a suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It is known for its many Asian shops and restaurants. History The Jagera Indigenous people were the first to inhabit the area well over 20,000 years ago. Early settlers noticed that the Sunnybank district had good rainfall and a beautiful loamy soil, somewhat sandy in character, that produced beautiful displays of natural wild flowers. From the mid-19th century it developed into a farming area with prosperous fruit and poultry farms and gardens of every kind. The Town of Sunnybank was surveyed in 1886. The name came from a property called Sunny Brae Estate owned by the Gillespie family. In the 19th century it was part of a much larger area known as the Parish of Yeerongpilly, but a distinct town outside of the area known as Brisbane. Surfers Paradise is a suburb in the City of Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. In the , Surfers Paradise had a population of 23,689 people. Colloquially known as "Surfers", the suburb has many high-rise apartment buildings and a wide surf beach. David Lake (coach)
David Lake (born 18 May 1964) is an Australian rules football coach who is a former coach of the Gold Coast Suns women's team in the AFL Women's (AFLW). Early life and playing career Lake was born in Warrnambool, Victoria and grew up in Camperdown. When Camperdown won the 1968 Hampden league premiership David was one of the teams mascots and was pictured sitting in the front row. David would play his junior football in town and then when he was 16 made his senior debut for Camperdown Magpies in 1981. He was talented enough to be recruited to Fitzroy's under 19 and Reserves team in 1982.
