"Albert Flasher" is a song written by Burton Cummings and performed by Canadian rock band The Guess Who. Initially released as the B-side of their "Broken" single in 1971, it was promoted to A-side status in mid-May of that year, according to the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart. It did not appear on any of their studio albums at that time, although it would much later be included on reissues of the band's 1971 album '' So Long, Bannatyne'' (such as the Iconoclassic release in 2009). It would also appear on many of their later compilation albums, including the 1973 release ''The Best of The Guess Who Volume II'' and the 1973 compilation EP titled ''The Guess Who''. The Guess Who
The Guess Who are a Canadian rock band formed in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in 1965. The band originated in 1962 and achieved an international hit single with a cover of "Shakin' All Over" in 1965 under the name Chad Allan and the Expressions. After changing their name to The Guess Who, they found their greatest success in the late 60s and early 70s, under the leadership of singer/keyboardist Burton Cummings and guitarist Randy Bachman, with hit songs including "American Woman", "These Eyes", " No Time" and many others. During their most successful period, The Guess Who released eleven studio albums, all of which reached the charts in Canada and the United States. ''The Best of The Guess Who Volume II'' is the fifth compilation album by the Canadian group The Guess Who. It was originally released by RCA Records in 1973, and contains recordings made between 1970 and 1973. Release history In addition to the usual 2 channel stereo version the album was also released by RCA in a 4 channel quadraphonic version on LP record and 8-track tape in 1974. The quad LP release used the Quadradisc system. In 1979, Pickwick Records reissued this album under license from RCA. This version omits the songs "Sour Suite" and "Guns, Guns, Guns". When RCA in Canada reissued this album on cassette in 1985, they used the Pickwick track listing. The first CD issue was released in 1992 by RCA. In 2019, the album was reissued in the UK by Dutton Vocalion on the Super Audio CD format. The disc also contains the 1972 album '' Rockin'''. The Kent Music Report was a weekly record chart of Australian music singles and albums which was compiled by music enthusiast David Kent from May 1974 through to January 1999. The chart was re-branded the Australian Music Report (AMR) in July 1987. From June 1988, the Australian Recording Industry Association, which had been using the top 50 portion of the report under licence since mid-1983, chose to produce their own listing as the ARIA Charts. Before the Kent Report, ''Go-Set'' magazine published weekly Top-40 Singles from 1966, and Album charts from 1970 until the magazine's demise in August 1974. The publication was founded by Walt Grealis in February 1964, supported through its existence by record label owner Stan Klees. ''RPM'' ceased publication in November 2000. ''Live at the Paramount'' is a live album released by Canadian rock group The Guess Who in 1972. It was recorded on May 22, 1972 at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle, Washington. ''Live at the Paramount'' was the first Guess Who album to feature Donnie McDougall on rhythm guitar and the last to feature original bassist Jim Kale. It also includes performances of 3 exclusive songs not included on any of their studio albums: "Glace Bay Blues," "Runnin' Back to Saskatoon," and "Truckin' Off Across the Sky." The album reached #39 on the ''Billboard'' 200 album chart in the United States. This was the group's only live album until the 'classic lineup' reunion in 1983 (resulting in the album ''Together Again'', released the following year). ''So Long, Bannatyne'' is the eighth studio album by the Canadian rock band The Guess Who, released in 1971 by RCA Records. Background The album's title track includes the words:''So long Bannatyne, hello my Chevrier home.'' The album's packaging and title track illustrate a transition in the life of Guess Who guitarist Kurt Winter moving from the city to the suburbs. The front cover has the words "So Long, Bannatyne" and shows the band dressed casually around a red Chevrolet with a Manitoba license plate in front of The Bannatyne Apartments (located at 545 Bannatyne Avenue in the band's hometown of Winnipeg). The back cover has the words "Hello My Chevrier Home" and shows the band now dressed more formally with the same red Chevy in the back of a home located on Chevrier Boulevard, about 5 miles from downtown Winnipeg.
