Albert Español Lifante (born 29 October 1985) is a Spanish water polo player. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, he competed for the Spain men's national water polo team in the men's event. He is 6 ft 2 inches tall. At club level, he plays for Spanish powerhouse CN Atlètic-Barceloneta. CN Atlètic-Barceloneta
Club Natació Atlètic-Barceloneta (CNAB) is a Spanish water polo club from Barcelona, established in 1913. The club is the result of the merge of Club Natació Atlètic, founded in 1913, and Barceloneta Amateur Club, founded in 1929 and renamed later on as Club Natació Atlètic-Barceloneta (CNAB). The club is located in the coastline neighbourhood of Barceloneta. Atlètic-Barceloneta is one of the most successful water polo clubs in Spain, having won 21 league titles, 17 national cups and 15 national super cups. The team has also won the LEN Champions League in 2014. LEN Super Cup
The LEN Super Cup is an annual water polo match organized by LEN and contested by the reigning champions of the two European club competitions, the LEN Champions League and the LEN Euro Cup. From 1976 to 2002, the LEN Super Cup was contested between the winners of the European Champions Cup/LEN Champions League and the winners of the LEN Cup Winners' Cup. After the discontinuation of the LEN Cup Winners' Cup, it has been contested by the winners of the LEN Champions League and the winners of the LEN Trophy, which was renamed the LEN Euro Cup in 2011. The 2014 Men's European Water Polo Championship was held in Budapest from 14–27 July 2014. Qualification There were 12 teams in the 2014 championships. European Water Polo Championship
The European Water Polo Championship is a sport competition for national water polo teams, currently held biannually and organized by the Ligue Européenne de Natation (LEN), the governing European aquatics federation. There are both men's and women's competitions. The first European Water Polo Championship was held in 1926 in Budapest, Hungary, with just a men's competition. The women for the first time competed in 1985 (Oslo, Norway) for the European title. The water polo tournament was part of the European Aquatics Championships up to and including 1997, and from 1999 the event was separated and got its own independent tournament. The A1 Ethniki ( el, Α1 Εθνική Κατηγορία), often referred to as the Greek Water Polo League, is the highest professional water polo league in Greece. It is run by the Hellenic Swimming Federation. Supercopa de España is the Spanish water polo's tournament. It is played as a single match between the League's champion and the Copa del Rey's winner. The 2015–16 season of the División de Honor de Waterpolo was the 93rd season of top-tier water polo in Spain since its inception in 1925. Twelve teams competed for this season. The season comprises regular season and championship playoff. The regular season started in October 2015 and finished on April 23, 2016. Top eight teams at standings when finishing regular season play the championship playoff. The championship playoff started on 3/4 May with the quarter-finals series.
