Albert De Martin
Albert De Martin (born February 20, 1951) is a politician from Quebec, Canada. He was an Action démocratique du Québec Member of the National Assembly for the electoral district of Huntingdon from 2007 to 2008. Early career De Martin was heavily involved in the farming and agriculture industries; he was co-owner of the local farm Fermes AJIRO 1989 Inc. for 27 years. He was also an administrator for several associations and organizations including the union of the Union des Producteurs Agricoles ( Saint-Anicet branch), the local development for the Upper Saint-Lawrence region, and the Saint-Jean de Valleyfield commercial culture union. Politics From 1987 to 2000, De Martin served as a municipal councillor in Godmanchester. The Conservative Party of Quebec (CPQ; french: Parti conservateur du Québec (PCQ)) is a provincial political party in Quebec, Canada. It was authorized on 25 March 2009 by the Chief Electoral Officer of Quebec. The CPQ has gradually run more candidates in successive elections, with 27 in the 2012 general election and 125 (all seats contested) in 2022. The party has not won a seat in the National Assembly of Quebec; however, under leader Éric Duhaime the CPQ won about 12.9% of the popular vote in the 2022 election, a major increase from prior elections. Previously on June 18, 2021 Claire Samson crossed the floor to join the party after having won election in 2018 as a candidate of the governing Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ). The 2015 Canadian federal election held on October 19, 2015, saw the Liberal Party, led by Justin Trudeau, win 184 seats, allowing it to form a majority government with Trudeau becoming the next prime minister. Salaberry—Suroît is a federal electoral district in Quebec. It encompasses a portion of Quebec formerly included in the electoral districts of Beauharnois—Salaberry (76%) and Vaudreuil-Soulanges (24%). The 2012 Quebec general election took place in the Canadian province of Quebec on September 4, 2012. Lieutenant Governor Pierre Duchesne dissolved the National Assembly on August 1, 2012, following Premier Jean Charest's request. The Parti Québécois were elected to a minority government, with Pauline Marois becoming the first woman to be Premier of Quebec.
