Alaska Bible College is a private Christian bible college in Palmer, Alaska. It is nationally accredited by the Association for Biblical Higher Education. The school was established in 1966 by missionary Vincent James Joy, a graduate of Moody Bible Institute who became a pioneer missionary to the Ahtna people and also founded Central Alaskan Missions (which is now a branch of SEND International).Faye E. SEND International
SEND International is an interdenominational Christian mission agency. The organization as it is known today was formed in 1971 through the merger of Far Eastern Gospel Crusade and Central Alaskan Missions. Central Alaskan Missions was founded in New Jersey in 1937 by Vincent James Joy, a graduate of Moody Bible Institute with a burden for missionary outreach among the Ahtna people of Alaska's Copper River Valley. By the time CAM merged with Far Eastern Gospel Crusade, Joy and his coworkers had planted nine churches, in addition to establishing Alaska Bible College, KCAM Radio, and Faith Hospital (now Cross Road Medical Center). Far Eastern Gospel Crusade was founded in 1947 by a group of World War II veterans via the merger of G.I. Alaska Natives
Alaska Natives (also known as Alaskan Natives, Native Alaskans, Indigenous Alaskans, Aboriginal Alaskans or First Alaskans) are the indigenous peoples of Alaska and include Iñupiat, Yupik, Aleut, Eyak, Tlingit, Haida, Tsimshian, and a number of Northern Athabaskan cultures. Ahtna
The Ahtna (also Ahtena, Atna, Ahtna-kohtaene, or Copper River) are an Alaska Native Athabaskan people of the Athabaskan-speaking ethnolinguistic group. The people's homeland called Atna Nenn', is located in the Copper River area of southern Alaska, and the name Ahtna derives from the local name for the Copper River. The total population of Ahtna is estimated at around 1,427. Palmer (Ahtna: ''Nił'etse'it'aade'' or ''Nuutah''; Dena'ina: ''Denal'i Kena'') is a city in and the borough seat of the Matanuska-Susitna Borough, Alaska, United States, located northeast of Anchorage on the Glenn Highway in the Matanuska Valley. Moody Bible Institute (MBI) is a private evangelical Christian Bible college founded in the Near North Side of Chicago, Illinois, US by evangelist and businessman Dwight Lyman Moody in 1886.
