Alas! Poor Yorick!
''Alas! Poor Yorick!'' is a 1913 American short comedy film featuring Fatty Arbuckle. The film's title is taken from the Shakespeare play ''Hamlet''. The film was both written and directed by Colin Campbell, and was released on April 21, 1913. Plot A mental patient, who in his mind is an amazing actor, escapes from a psychiatric hospital. Every theater manager in town is notified and the first man that causes suspicion is Montgomery Irving, a poor actor in disgrace who honestly looks and acts crazy. He applies for the position, but he doesn't understand why he is arrested without any reason, when he was about to destroy the house the manager is informed that the real patient was captured somewhere else. Colin Campbell (director)
James Colin Campbell (11 October 1859 – 26 August 1928) was a Scottish-born film director, actor and screenwriter. He directed more than 170 films between 1911 and 1924. He also wrote for 60 films between 1911 and 1922. He was born in Scotland, and died in Hollywood, California. He used the name William Goodrich on the films he directed from 1924 onward. Arbuckle's films share the common fate of silent movies. Wheeler Oakman
Wheeler Oakman (born Vivian Eichelberger; February 21, 1890 – March 19, 1949) was an American film actor. Early years Oakman was born as Vivian Eichelberger in Washington, D.C., and educated in that city's schools. He grew up in Fairfax, Virginia, after moving there from Washington. Career Before acting in films, Oakman was active in stock theater in the eastern United States. Oakman appeared in over 280 films between 1912 and 1948. In silent films, he was often a leading man. Among his leading ladies were Priscilla Dean, Kathlyn Williams, Colleen Moore and Annette Kellerman. His most successful movie was ''Mickey'', a 1918 comedy-drama, in which he played the love interest of Mabel Normand. In 1928, he had a prominent role as the crime boss in the first all talking feature movie ever made, ''Lights of New York''. ''The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark'', often shortened to ''Hamlet'' (), is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare sometime between 1599 and 1601. It is Shakespeare's longest play, with 29,551 words.
