Alan Neville
Alan Neville (born 1969) is an Irish former hurler who played as a left corner-forward for the Clare senior hurling team. Neville made his first appearance for the team during the 1992 championship and became a regular member of the starting fifteen over the next few seasons. During that time he won one All-Ireland medal on the field of play and one Munster medal as a non-playing substitute. At club level Neville is a Munster medalist with Clarecstle. In addition to this he also won four county club championship medals. In retirement from plays Neville as become involved in team management as a selector with Cratloe. Playing career Club Neville played his club hurling with his local team in Clarecastle and enjoyed much success during a golden age for the club. The All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship of 1995 (known for the first time for sponsorship reasons as the Guinness Hurling Championship 1995) was the 109th staging of Ireland's premier hurling knock-out competition. Clare won the championship, beating Offaly 1-13 to 2-8 in the final at Croke Park, Dublin, it was their first All-Ireland win since 1914. Pre-championship Sponsorship In 1994 Bank of Ireland became the first ever sponsor of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship. Following the success of this deal it was decided that the hurling championship could also benefit from sponsorship. The Pat O'Donnell & Co. Senior Hurling Championship, more commonly known as the'' Clare Senior Hurling Championship ''or'' Clare SHC, ''is an annual hurling competition organised by the Clare GAA, Clare County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. It is contested by the top-ranking senior hurling clubs in County Clare, Clare, Ireland. It is the most prestigious competition in Clare hurling. The Dr Harty Cup, officially known as the Munster Colleges Senior A Hurling Championship, is an annual inter-schools hurling competition organised by the Munster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-schools hurling competition in the province of Munster, and has been contested every year, except on two occasions, since 1918. Ardscoil Ris are the centenary Champions winning the title in 2018. The final, usually held in February, serves as the culmination of a series of games played between October and January. The 1987 Croke Cup was the 36th staging of the Croke Cup since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1944. The competition ran from 12 April to 10 May 1987. The Dr Croke Cup is the trophy presented to the winner of the All Ireland Secondary Schools Senior "A" hurling championship. Before that it was an inter-county GAA competition in hurling. The first Croke Cups (which included hurling and Gaelic football) took place between 1896 and 1915. Clare was the first winner of the Dr Croke Cup for hurling in 1896. In 1909 Ulster were expelled from the Dr Croke Cup because of "bad gates" but the decision was later rescinded. Éamonn Taaffe
Éamonn Taaffe (born 18 February 1975) is an Irish retired hurler who played as a full-forward for the Clare senior team. Born in Tubber, County Clare, Taaffe first played competitive hurling during his schooling at Our Lady's College. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the Clare minor team, before later joining the under-21 side. He joined the senior panel during the 1993-94 league. Taaffe was a regular member of the team for much of the rest of the decade and won one All-Ireland medal and one Munster medal. At club level Taaffe played with Tubber Throughout his career Taaffe made 8 championship appearances. He retired from inter-county hurling following the conclusion of the 2000 championship. In Gaelic games, a manager or (in Irish) ''bainisteoir'' is involved in the direction and instruction of the on-field operations of a team. The role entails the application of sport tactics and strategies during the game itself, and usually entails substitution of players and other such actions as needed.
