Alan Marsham
Alan Robert Marsham (6 August 1920 – 7 April 1990) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the Geelong Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Family The son of former Geelong footballer Harry "Nipper" Marsham (1890-1932) and Olive Gertrude Elizabeth Marsham, nee McQueen (1893–1950), Alan Robert Marsham was born in Geelong on 6 August 1920. Alan Marsham married Marie Elaine Dawson in 1943. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). During general play, players may position themselves anywhere on the field and use any part of their bodies to move the ball. The primary methods are kicking, handballing and running with the ball. The Australian Football League (AFL) is the only fully professional competition of Australian rules football. Through the AFL Commission, the AFL also serves as the sport's governing body and is responsible for controlling the laws of the game. Harry Marsham
Harry "Nipper" Marsham (19 July 1890 – 31 December 1932) was a player for Geelong and Richmond in the VFL between 1909 and 1919. Family His son, Alan Marsham, also played with Geelong. Football He played as a ruckman and forward for Geelong for seven seasons. When Geelong were unable to compete in 1916 due to World War I World War I (28 July 1914 11 November 1918), often abbreviated as WWI, was one of the deadliest global conflicts in history. The Williamstown Football Club, nicknamed The Seagulls, is an Australian rules football club based in Melbourne. The club currently competes in the men's and women's Victorian Football League and VFLW competitions.
