Alan Griffin (basketball)
Alan Griffin (born April 14, 2000) is an American professional basketball player for the Newfoundland Growlers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL). He played college basketball for the Illinois Fighting Illini men's basketball, Illinois Fighting Illini and the Syracuse Orange men's basketball, Syracuse Orange. High school career Griffin attended Oak Park and River Forest High School in Oak Park, Illinois before moving to Ossining High School in Ossining (village), New York, Ossining, New York, where he played basketball alongside Obi Toppin. For his final two years, he transferred to Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains, New York. As a senior, he averaged 19.2 points and 9.9 rebounds per game, shooting 48 percent from three-point range, and led his team to its first-ever New York State Federation Class AA title. The sixth man in basketball is a player who is not a starter but comes off the bench much more often than other reserves, often being the first player to be substituted in. The sixth man often plays minutes equal to or exceeding some of the starters and posts similar statistics. He is often a player who can play multiple positions, hence his utility in substituting often.
