Alan Fisher (broadcast Journalist)
Alan Fisher is a Scottish broadcast journalist and war correspondent. For many years he worked at GMTV, but now works for international news channel Al Jazeera English, where he is a senior correspondent at the broadcast centre in Washington, D.C. Early life Fisher was born in Motherwell in Scotland and attended Dalziel High School. He studied journalism at what was then Napier College in Edinburgh. He later graduated with an M.A. from the University of Leicester, where he wrote his thesis on the work of war correspondents. Career Fisher began his career writing for his local newspaper ''The Motherwell Times'' and broadcasting on Hospital Radio Law while still at High school. He also appeared as a panelist on a BBC Scotland Sunday afternoon current affairs for teenagers called "The Sunday Club". His first job was at Moray Firth Radio in 1983. Alan Fisher (20 June 1922 – 20 March 1988) was a British trade unionist. Born in Birmingham, Fisher spent his entire working life at the National Union of Public Employees, serving as General Secretary from 1968 to 1982. This was a period of rapid growth for the union and included the Winter of Discontent. Alan Fisher (architect)
Alan Berney Fisher (1905, Denver 1978) was an American architect based in Denver, Colorado, working primarily for the firm of Fisher & Fisher founded by his father. He was active in historic preservation in the state. In 1892, the firm that became Fisher and Fisher was founded by Alan Fisher's father, William Ellsworth Fisher. In 1907 the firm became "Fisher and Fisher" when William's brother, Arthur Addison Fisher, joined and it continued until Alan Fisher's death in 1978. Throughout the firm worked on dozens of notable buildings. Of 67 existing buildings in Denver credited to the Fisher firm, 50 are individually listed, within districts, or have been determined eligible for the National Register of Historic Places; three quarters of the firm's identifiable remaining work in the city.
