Alan Eugene Norris
Alan Eugene Norris (born August 15, 1935) is a Senior United States circuit judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Education and career Born in Columbus, Ohio, Norris received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Otterbein College in 1957, a Bachelor of Laws from New York University School of Law in 1960, and a Master of Laws from University of Virginia School of Law in 1986. He was a law clerk to Justice Kingsley A. Taft of the Supreme Court of Ohio from 1960 to 1961. Norris was in private practice in Columbus from 1961 to 1962, and in Westerville, Ohio from 1962 to 1980, also serving as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives from 1967 to 1980. He was an instructor at Otterbein College from 1976 to 1980. He was a Judge of the Ohio Court of Appeals, Tenth District from 1980 to 1986. Senior Status
Senior status is a form of semi-retirement for United States federal judges. To qualify, a judge in the Federal judiciary of the United States, federal court system must be at least 65 years old, and the sum of the judge's age and years of service as a federal judge must be at least 80 years. As long as senior judges carry at least a 25 percent caseload or meet other criteria for activity, they remain entitled to maintain a staffed office and chambers, including a secretary and their normal complement of law clerks, and they continue to receive annual cost-of-living increases. Senior judges vacate their seats on the bench, and the President of the United States, president may appoint new full-time judges to fill those seats. Some U.S. states have similar systems for senior judges. A law clerk or a judicial clerk is a person, generally someone who provides direct counsel and assistance to a lawyer or judge by researching issues and drafting legal opinions for cases before the court. Ronald Wilson Reagan ( ; February 6, 1911June 5, 2004) was an American politician, actor, and union leader who served as the 40th president of the United States from 1981 to 1989. Ohio Court Of Appeals
The Ohio District Courts of Appeals are the intermediate appellate courts of the U.S. state of Ohio. The Ohio Constitution provides for courts of appeals that have jurisdiction to review final appealable orders. There are twelve appellate districts, each consisting of at least one county, and the number of judges in each district varies from four to twelve. Each case is heard by a three-judge panel. There are currently 69 courts of appeals judges as provided by statute. A court of appeals judge is an elected position, with a term of six years. Ohio House Of Representatives
The Ohio House of Representatives is the lower house of the Ohio General Assembly, the state legislature of the U.S. state of Ohio; the other house of the bicameral legislature being the Ohio Senate. The House of Representatives first met in Chillicothe on March 3, 1803, under the later superseded state constitution of that year. In 1816, the capital was moved to Columbus, where it is located today.
