Alan Dillon
Alan Dillon (born 28 September 1982) is an Irish Fine Gael politician who has been a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Mayo (Dáil constituency), Mayo constituency since the 2020 Irish general election, 2020 general election. Prior to entering politics, he was a two-time GAA All Stars Awards, All Star winning Gaelic footballer who captained the senior Mayo county football team, Mayo county team. Personal life He is married to Ashling, and they have two sons. Dillon has participated in a marketing campaign for Ireland West Airport Knock. Dillon attended Davitt College in Castlebar for his Secondary school education. He studied at NUI Galway, and played for NUI Galway GAA, the university football team. Dillon has a Master of Science, MSc in Pharmaceutical Science from the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland, a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from NUI Galway, and a Bachelor of Science, BSc in Applied Mathematics and Biology from Maynooth University. A Teachta Dála ( , ; plural ), abbreviated as TD (plural ''TDanna'' in Irish, TDs in English), is a member of Dáil Éireann, the lower house of the Oireachtas (the Irish Parliament). It is the equivalent of terms such as ''Member of Parliament'' (MP) or '' Member of Congress'' used in other countries. The official translation of the term is "Deputy to the Dáil", although a more literal translation is "Assembly Delegate". Ballintubber, officially Ballintober (), is a village in County Mayo, Ireland, known for Ballintubber Abbey which was founded in 1216. The countryside of Ballintubber is set against the against the backdrop of the Partry Mountains. History The long history of Ballintubber dates back to pre-Christian times, when people came from the east, through Ballintubber, on the way to a druidic site now called Croagh Patrick.
