Alan Caves (born 5 January 1966) is an English former professional darts player who played in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. Career Caves' best run came at the 2004 UK Open where he reached the last 16, ultimately losing to Alan Warriner. At the 2007 PDC World Championship, Caves beat crowd favourite Wayne Mardle in the first round, eventually losing to two time semi-finalist Dave Askew in the second round. Hillingdon
Hillingdon is an area of Uxbridge within the London Borough of Hillingdon, centred 14.2 miles (22.8 km) west of Charing Cross. It was an ancient parish in Middlesex that included the market town of Uxbridge. During the 1920s the civil parish bore a rapid, planned increase in population and housing, and was absorbed by Uxbridge Urban District in 1929. It has formed part of Greater London since 1965. Wayne Mardle
Wayne Elliot Mardle (born 10 May 1973) is an English former professional darts player who played in events of the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) and British Darts Organisation (BDO). He was runner-up in three PDC majors, losing to Phil Taylor on each occasion. He was also a five-time world semi-finalist. He currently works as a pundit and commentator. He has been known as "Hawaii 501" since 2000, a play on the title of the popular television series ''Hawaii Five-O'', due to the Hawaiian shirts he started wearing in 1998 for a bet, and 501 being the start score of a leg of darts. This dress sense coupled with his crowd-pleasing onstage activity (such as dancing to the interval music) saw him become one of the most popular players on the circuit. Steve Alker
Steve "Snakeman" Alker (born 14 February 1964) is a Welsh retired professional darts player who competed in British Darts Organisation and Professional Darts Corporation events. Career Alker won the 1998 Welsh Open, beating Colin Monk in the final. He was also a semi-finalist in the 2000 British Open. He played in the 2001 BDO World Darts Championship and 2002 Winmau World Masters but lost in the first round of both tournaments. At the 2005 UK Open, where starting in the preliminary round, he went on to win five matches, including a victory over Kevin Painter before losing to Phil Taylor in the fifth round. Josephus Schenk
Josephus Schenk (born 19 August 1980, in Zutphen) is a former Dutch professional darts player. Career Schenk began playing in the Professional Darts Corporation made his PDC World Darts Championship debut in 2005 where he defeated American Darin Young in the first round and Alan Caves in the second round before defeating Peter Manley in the round three stage. His run was ended though in the Last 16 stage by Andy Hamilton. In the 2007 PDC World Darts Championship, Schenk was beaten in the first round by Dennis Priestley. This was followed by an appearance in the 2007 UK Open but was beaten early in the competition by Geoff Harkup. In 2008, Schenk began playing in the Nederlandse Darts Bond, an affiliation of the British Darts Organisation and in 2009 he began playing in the BDO/WDF circuit. Dave Askew
Dave Askew (born 3 April 1963) is a former English professional darts player who competed in events of the British Darts Organisation (BDO) and Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). He is a two-time semi-finalist of the PDC World Championship (2001 and 2002), losing to eventual winner Phil Taylor on both occasions. Askew was never a full-time professional and earned his living as a bricklayer. Career BDO Askew first made his name in 1988 when he defeated Cliff Lazarenko 6–0 in sets to win the Denmark Open. In the same year, he also reached the final of the Swedish Open but lost out to Simon Duke. In 1989 Askew then won the French Open and lifted his first title on TV, the Cockney Classic when he defeated Steve Smith. Askew reached the last 16 of the World Masters in 1992 and narrowly missed out on reaching the World Championship for the first time. 2007 PDC World Darts Championship
The 2007 Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship was the 14th World Championship organised by the Professional Darts Corporation since it separated from the British Darts Organisation. The tournament took place between 18 December 2006 – 1 January 2007. The championship was once again held at the Circus Tavern in Purfleet, Essex, where it had been staged since the first PDC World Championship in 1994. However, it would turn out to be the last time the tournament would be held at the Tavern: in April 2007, the PDC announced that the event would be moving to Alexandra Palace from 2008. This was the fifth year of Ladbrokes' sponsorship deal, with the tournament prize fund now at a record £500,000. Sunbury-on-Thames (or commonly Sunbury) is a suburban town on the north bank of the River Thames in the Borough of Spelthorne, Surrey, centred southwest of central London. Alan Warriner-Little
Alan Warriner-Little (born Warriner; 24 March 1962) is an English former professional darts player. Nicknamed The Iceman, he is a former World Grand Prix champion and a former runner-up at the World Professional Darts Championship. Darts career Before coming to prominence as a darts professional, Warriner-Little appeared as a contestant in a 1987 edition of the ITV gameshow Bullseye whilst working as a State Enrolled Nurse on Ward 13 Upper at Lancaster Moor Hospital. He scored 257 the following year when he was invited back to throw for charity. He made his World Championship debut in 1989, losing a second-round match to Jocky Wilson in a sudden death leg, after missing 8 match darts, with Wilson going on to win the tournament for his second World Championship. UK Open
The Cazoo UK Open is a ranking major darts tournament held annually at the Butlins Minehead Resort by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) in England. Often referred to as the "FA Cup of darts", the UK Open replicates the abolition of seedings, elimination play, and fixtures determined via open draw. One-hundred-and-sixty players compete in the multi-board event over eight-stages before the PDC’s Top 32 enter the tournament in the fourth round. The tournament has a prize fund of £450,000; the victor’s prize is £100,000. History From 2003 to 2013, the UK Open took place in June each year at the Reebok Stadium, in Bolton.
