Alamos Alliance
The Alamos Alliance is a lobbying organization consisting of a group of conservative economists linked to the Chicago Boys, which holds a three-day annual meeting, usually by mid-February, in a town named Álamos, in the Mexican state of Sonora, in northwestern Mexico. History This organization, founded by Arnold Harberger in 1993, is mostly known for its neoliberal points of view and its impulse to business-friendly conditions and environments favorable to investments and development of the free-enterprise system. Its first meeting was held in February 1994 at the Hotel de los Tesoros, in Álamos ("Poplars"). For the first time, the XXVIII Alamos Alliance conference was held online, on 30 April 2021. Arnold Harberger
Arnold Carl Harberger (born July 27, 1924) is an American economist. His approach to the teaching and practice of economics is to emphasize the use of analytical tools that are directly applicable to real-world issues. His influence on academic economics is reflected in part by the widespread use of the term " Harberger triangle" to refer to the standard graphical depiction of the efficiency cost of distortions of competitive equilibrium. His influence on the practice of economic policy is manifested by the high positions attained by his followers in national agencies such as central banks and ministries of finance, and in international agencies such as the World Bank. Life Harberger completed his B.A. in economics at Johns Hopkins University, and his M.A. in international relations in 1947 and his Ph.D. in economics in 1950 at the University of Chicago. Manuel Sánchez (Monterrey, Nuevo León, July 27, 1950) is a Mexican economist with a wide-ranging professional career that includes positions in academics, banking, and central banking. Pedro Carlos Aspe Armella (born on in Mexico City, Mexico) is a Mexican economist. He served as secretary of finance (1988 – 1994) in the cabinet of Carlos Salinas de Gortari, where he successfully renegotiated foreign debt, gave autonomy to the central bank and promoted a controversial privatization plan. She was the World Bank Chief Economist from 1982 to 1986, and the first deputy managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) from 2001 to 2006. William Philip Gramm (born July 8, 1942) is an American economist and politician who represented Texas in both chambers of Congress. Though he began his political career as a Democrat, Gramm switched to the Republican Party in 1983. Gramm was an unsuccessful candidate in the 1996 Republican Party presidential primaries against eventual nominee Bob Dole. Early life education Gramm was born on July 8, 1942, in Fort Benning, Georgia, and grew up in nearby Columbus.
