Alain Danilet
Alain Danilet (3 June 1947 – 8 February 2012) was a French politician who served as Mayor of Sommières from 2001 to 2005. He was previously Member of the Fifth District of the Gard from 1993 to 1997. Biography Born in Noyon, Danilet was elected deputy of the fifth district of Gard in the colors of RPR for the Tenth Parliament (1993–1997). His deputy was Christian Burglé, Mayor CDS Euzet (1989–2001). He was close to the former deputy mayor of Beaucaire, Jean-Marie André. He represented the legislative elections of 1997, and failed the second round with 40.59% of the vote against Damien Alary. He also worked as a civil servant, and National Police officer. Danilet was elected Mayor of Sommières in March 2001. He joined the ranks of the UMP upon its creation in 2002. Noyon
Noyon (; pcd, Noéyon; la, Noviomagus Veromanduorum, Noviomagus of the Veromandui, then ) is a Communes of France, commune in the Oise Departments of France, department, northern France. Geography Noyon lies on the river Oise (river), Oise, about northeast of Paris. The Oise Canal and the Canal du Nord pass through the commune. Sommières
Sommières (; oc, Someire) is a commune in the Gard department in southern France, located at the border with the Hérault department. It lies from Nîmes, from Montpellier. Geography Sommières is to the south of the garrigues and on the edge of the Vaunage, a wine growing region. It straddles the River Vidourle. History The village first settled on the arcades of the Roman bridge on the Vidourle river, built by Roman Emperor Tiberius during the first century. The village grew in the protection of the castle. It was annexed into the French kingdom by King Louis IX in 1248, following the crusade against the Albigensiens. It became a Protestant stronghold, and it was besieged by the Catholics in 1573 and again by Louis XIII in 1622.
