State Route 128 (SR 128) is a state highway in Tallapoosa County. The highway's western terminus is at an intersection with SR 63. The route ends at the entrance to Wind Creek State Park along Lake Martin. Route description SR 128 is the signed route to provide access to Wind Creek State Park from SR 63. The intersection of SR 63 and SR 128 is approximately south of Alexander City, where SR 63 intersects U.S. Route 280 (US 280). From SR 63, SR 128 heads east through wooded areas and enters the state park. The route turns east onto Hodnett Drive and ends a short distance later. Wind Creek State Park
Wind Creek State Park is a public recreation area located south of Alexander City, Alabama, on the western side of Lake Martin, a reservoir on the Tallapoosa River. The state park occupies and is managed by the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. Activities and amenities The park offers boating, fishing, swimming, picnicking, hiking and equestrian trails, a large camping area, and rental cabins. A grain silo built in 1915 that sits on the edge of the lake is topped by a viewing platform and has a nature center in its base. Lake Martin
Lake Martin is located in Tallapoosa, Elmore and Coosa counties in Alabama. It is a 39,000-acre (178 km²) reservoir with over 750 miles (1,200 km) of wooded shoreline. Lake Martin is a reservoir, enlarged by the construction of Martin Dam on the Tallapoosa River.The Martin Dam powerhouse is used to generate hydroelectric power for the Alabama Power Company. Construction on Martin Dam began in 1923 and was completed in 1926, creating what was, at that time, the largest man-made body of water in the world. Originally known as Cherokee Bluffs for the geological formation upon which it was built, the dam was renamed in 1936 in honor of Thomas Martin, the then-president of Alabama Power Company. State Route 63 (SR 63) is a state highway in the central part of the U.S. state of Alabama. The southern terminus of the highway is at an intersection with SR 14 at Claud, an unincorporated community in Elmore County. The northern terminus of the highway is at an intersection with SR 9 south of Millerville, an unincorporated community in southeastern Clay County. Route description SR 63 is a two-lane highway for its entire length. As the highway travels through rural Elmore County, it travels to the northeast until it approaches Eclectic, where it takes a brief turn to the west before turning northward.
