Albert T. Davis (born July 28, 1952) is an American businessman and politician who served as a member of the Nebraska Legislature from 2013 to 2017. Early life and education Davis was born in Hyannis, Nebraska. As a high school student, Davis wrote and performed in plays. He attended Creighton University and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts before earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and economics from the University of Denver. Career Prior to entering politics, Davis worked as a real estate developer and ranch-owner. In 2012, incumbent Senator Deb Fischer ran for the U.S. Senate, leaving her seat open. Debra Lynelle Fischer (; born March 1, 1951) is an American politician serving as the senior United States senator from Nebraska, a seat she has held since 2013. A member of the Republican Party, Fischer was the first woman elected to a full term as a U.S. senator from Nebraska, and previously served in the Nebraska Legislature, representing the 43rd district for two terms from 2005 to 2013. Tom Brewer (born August 6, 1958) is an American politician serving as a member of the Nebraska Legislature from the 43rd district. Elected in 2016, he assumed office in 2017. Early life and education Brewer was born in Casper, Wyoming and was raised around Gordon, Nebraska and Whiteclay, Nebraska. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Doane University and attended the United States Army War College. Career For 36 years, Brewer served as a member of the United States Army, including six tours in Afghanistan. Brewer was awarded two Purple Hearts. 2022 Nebraska Gubernatorial Election
The 2022 Nebraska gubernatorial election took place on November 8, 2022, to elect the governor of Nebraska. Incumbent Republican Governor Pete Ricketts was term-limited and unable to seek a third term. In the general election, Republican Jim Pillen went on to win the gubernatorial election by a 23-point margin. Nebraska's primary elections were held on May 10. Former University of Nebraska Board of Regents chair Jim Pillen won the Republican nomination, while state senator Carol Blood won the Democratic nomination. The race took on increased importance in October 2022, when U.S. Senator Ben Sasse announced he would resign and Ricketts said he would allow the winner of the 2022 gubernatorial election to appoint Sasse's replacement.
